It will be interesting if RT adopts a tactic vs vote brigading, but it seems that they don't care very much

You know, sometimes I wonder if it's all to do with "against the man!" And all that b*******. It also doesn't help that hating Star Wars is probably very profitable on YouTube. Gotta get that clicks.

 

There's already 5k user review on RT. People are weird and their trollish behavior isn't having any effect other turn people off from enjoying things they like.

 

Cause god forbid anyone who likes things. A true fan must hate things...cause that makes sense.

I mean......come on........if we're being honest with ourselves here, the MAJORITY of the anti-Star Wars and anti-Last Jedi sentiments are coming directly from a place of meanness, hate, anger, and sexism/racism. Let's just call it for what it is, OK? It's the anti "social justice warrior" crowd (a term that is ovrbroad and too liberally used by these angry folks to disparage anyone that stands for basic human decency). It's the rise of extreme un-acceptance that has begun its slow creep into all aspects of our lives. I refuse to believe anything else. I've seen enough of it to know. These people are angry because a woman runs the company. They loathe that the stories are no longer solely about white, golden-haired heroes. They are about women. They are about people of color. They are about people other than them, and depict a world of inclusion, which scares them greatly. Let's just be real, alright? THAT is why TLJ got beat on so hard. THAT is where all of the vitriol is coming from against Campea.

 

I can only speak for myself and people I have spoken to. I hated TLJ because it was terribly written, I hated Rose and Holdo because they were terrible characters. Not because they were "strong woman" who as JJ put it "intimidate" us or whatever other BS people have spewed. It does no one any favors to blanket everyone who hated the movie as an "-ist." In fact it makes it worse because now people have to get defensive but as long as people can just call someone a racist or sexist without ever needing evidence no one cares. Yes their are jackasses out there who live to rile people up but I don't for a second believe that fans of the franchise that featured one of the single greatest examples of a "strong" female character and featured the universally beloved Lando (and Billy Dee) are actually sexist or racists. That's the easy excuse that doesn't force the people in charge (JJ, Kathleen, Rian specifically) to ever think "maybe we made a bad story" they'll continue to deflect and blame an outside force like the "-isms" Another problem is that we live in the digital age which makes it leagues easier for trolls to piss people off. I go back to the whole controversy with Boyega when he was casted, I guarantee that the majority of people don't give a single sh*t about there being a black stormtrooper but that very small group can be very loud on the internet and then the media (both small sites and mainstream news) roll with it (because nothing sells like racism) and do article after article about it which makes a very small minority seem much larger than it is. I don't care whether someone liked the movie or not but don't go and label people as something just because they hated it.

 

Yes, I grant you that there were definitely a lot of people that hated the movie for the "right" reasons, like yourself. I am talking about the vocal ones that live for slamming it in every message board, review bomb RottenTomatoes and IMDB, flood Twitter with hateful responses to people that liked it, attack people on YouTube and respond to positive Facebook posts with vitriol, etc., etc., etc. I think you're probably wise enough to know about whom I was speaking...

(P.S. I wholeheartedly disagree that it was a bad story or that it was terribly written. You're not going to move me off my opinion that it was a great film.)

 

I would never try to change your mind on the movie, if you like it then thats your business and your opinion. Like you said the vocals ones are spamming, I think its quite clear that the people are doing it just to do it, they troll just to see the reactions and its better to just ignore them then give them the time of day.

 

People who don't like story choices are fine. People have made very good cases for why they don't like the film. However, it's difficult to take the "it's terribly written" criticisms seriously. Just because a person doesn't like a film doesn't mean it's terribly written. The Last Jedi probably one of the best written Star Wars films.

 

You are coming to this realization NOW? Where were you during the last decade when Lucas Derangement Syndrome was in full swing? Star Wars bashing was EVERYWHERE back then.
