    How is it obvious that we will know everything about the characters? The only name of a new character that is officially released is Jyn Erso. Everything else is rumors and speculation. What Making Star Wars says is "fact" could end up being different than the final product, just like The Force Awakens. Ward and co., while they had some correct information, had some that ended up being far off point.

    I highly doubt lucasfilm will keep us in the dark regarding every other character...I mean, of course they'll keep some bits and pieces that pertain to the future of the franchise a mystery just like with TFA, but we will surely know things like character names and motivations behind their reason for being in R1 just like how we knew that Finn is a storm trooper that wants to get away from the first order and Rey is an orphan who is trying to belong and is waiting for her parents and things like that.

    We knew Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Poe Dameron, and BB-8 first. Later we learned Phasma and Hux. The rest was via toy leaks I think. Which i think we will learn probably this week for May the 4th or Celebration Europe. But not a whole lot of info.
