This is really interesting - an actual scientist went all the way to analyze responses to Rian's tweets and this is what he got:

Omg that's awesome. I'd love for Rian to promote that guy's paper when complete.

IMO that doesn't come as a surprise and I wouldn't draw the conclusion that this a TLJ exclusive phenomenon. Like @Jedi MD wrote:

Moreover men are more motivated to use microblogs antisocially, and women were more likely to use it prosocially. One reason might be that characteristics such as competitiveness, assertiveness, need for achievement and dominance, tend to be encouraged in the socialisation of men and punished in women.

this doesn't mean much to me without seeing all the numbers. it certainly shows that a low number of the female tweeters tweeted negatively, but with low numbers.. 4% as opposed to his claimed 7% - there isn't a great deal of difference. just 3 more negative female tweeters it's near his 7%
(disclaimer: this stuff is not my strength lol)

his overall 7% claim is interesting though. a 'loud few' is what many of us have suspected all along.

It is interesting about the claims of the negative numbers. But truly you can’t use Twitter as a proper investigation of the disgruntled Star Wars fans. Not all Star Wars fans use Twitter. Not all Star Wars fans express their opinions in chat rooms such as these. And not all Star Wars fans personally attack the people in charge of Star Wars. I’m not happy with parts 7 & 8. I’m not happy with the direction the producers chose to take the franchise.

I am happy that the people upset are expressing their feelings and that they are being heard. I don’t agree with all the reasons why people are upset.

The people in charge decided to make a bold move in the story. In my opinion it was too much too fast. I personally would’ve liked to have seen future movies with different actors/actresses playing the parts of Luke lie and Han in between parts 6 & 7. Unfortunately I’m no longer interested in that. Sure rebellions can last 40 years, but it would’ve been nice to see the books followed.

Yes a lot of people like the direction. Unfortunately a lot of die hard fans I know don’t. I can tell you nobody in the theater clapped at the end of tlj on opening night.

I have tried to find a way to change my opinion of the direction but I just haven’t found a way. TLJ seems like it was rushed and no thought was put into what the true fans would think. This should show Disney that you can’t just do whatever comes to mind at that moment in time and think the fans will like it no matter what.

I’m not a racist, I believe in equality for women. The story line is an injustice to the characters George Lucas created. Plan and simple.

I have no twitter account (a contaminated social media in my opinion) but we all know we can already enter and read every comment.
What I have seen so far, despite TLJ being good or not, is what 80sRobot said in news feed some days ago, words that I remark here:

"Regardless of how one feels about TLJ, Johnson should have just shut up, not fed the trolls, and not gone on Twitter rants.
Compare his behavior online toward fans and critics with how JJ Abrams and Ron Howard have behaved online, used Twitter and social media.
Johnson has come off as petty, immature, and frankly unprofessional. He hasn't represented Star Wars well online in a professional manner."

    I couldn't agree more.
This could turn against him. People who had good opinions about him and Star Wars being more simple than this kind of behaviour, could change their minds.

This is exactly why I think the backlash isn't a minor deal, and Iger doesn't want the brand ruined any further. He'll take the fall for Solo, but if Star Wars continues to fail, he will be decapitating projects swiftly (GoT showrunners will be his only hope).

For a professional like RJ to become petty makes this backlash more then it seems. And For his unprofessional attitude this could hurt Johnson if episode 9 fails to succeed. If episode 9 doesn't succeed at least financially one of the film projects that will most certainly go away first is his trilogy.

What I don't get, if you don't like someone, why interact? Yeah I am not interested in Rian, not one lttle bit. So why would i try or even want to communicate with him? I guess some folks get a kick out of it. Otherwise I don't get it. In fact it's actually quite boring.
