    Any chance a "bio-hexacrypt" is a holocron?

Holocrons aren't "alive", though - at least not beyond having a Force imprint placed upon them, like what happened with the Presence (which they seriously need to get back to, because I feel like we got blueballed on that plot thread and oh goodness I'm rambling).

"Biblio-Hexacript" would probably be a better bit of technobabble to describe a Holocron, whereas "Bio-Hexacrypt" sounds like they're trying to use a device to solve some secretive genetic code or something - at least to me. Snoke was weighing out his options with a clone army, after all...

Or maybe some sort of genetic identification associated with the FO troopers. They do use a six character tag in lieu of their given names.

Another thing to consider in all of this is that Boyega has been pretty good about not spilling any Star Wars beans before they've been properly cooked. It's unlikely he would have put something this specific out there without getting the ok first and with Lucasfilm playing everything about TLJ so close to the vest in the lead up to Celebration would they have given this their blessing right now? I'm inclined to think no. But if bio-hexacrypt itself isn't in the script it wouldn't be an issue either way.

I was just about to wrtie the same thing. It's pretty clear in my mind that's what it means. I've got the feeling that Finn is going in search of his family and the Bio-Hexcrypt is a way to find out where he is from.

Phhtt. I think it's pretty obvious that Finn is Saw Gerrera's grandson. Saw's daughter Steela (named after his dead sister) was thought lost to him, but was kidnapped by the First Order, and forced to crank out Stormtrooper babies. After "Finn" was ripped from her arms shortly after birth to begin training, she refused to comply any further, and was executed for treason. Finn's father is now a high ranking officer, and was conveniently assigned elsewhere when Starkiller Base was destroyed.

Just follow the clues, man...follow the clues.

Not necessarily. Last can mean previous. As in "The Most Recent Jedi".

    Just sayin.

Ugh, just... No. With all due respect, I disagree.

There are a kajillion different ways that they could take Finn's story than "MUH FAMILY", and I'd much, much rather they go with them instead. Finn doesn't seem to be all that concerned with family so much as his own survival pre-character development, and after his character development, his goal becomes to defend the people that he cares about and to stop the First Order. The only time his family is ever mentioned is in passing when he resigns himself to the fact that he'll never meet whomever they were, and that in the long run it isn't important to him - and that's a side note to the part of the conversation that's actually relevant, which is his status as a former Stormtrooper ashamed of the life he led. If it's not important to him, then it shouldn't be important to the audience, especially when there are more interesting places for the character to go. The entire point of Finn was to take many of the defining characteristics of how an "everyman" archetype would play out in the Star Wars setting and progressively shed them as the character becomes more of a hero - to show that anyone could accomplish great things with the right amount of bravery, skill, and luck. So as such, family is unimportant because he's meant to start off as a kind of blank state.

Rey is where an entire family narrative actually does belong. Before we even hear a single word from her, we can see that loneliness is a defining trait in her life. When she does speak, one of the first things that she mentions is that she's waiting for her family and that she doesn't know a whole lot about her own past, and this is something that is hammered in over the course of the greater part of the film. She wants to go back to Jakku immediately after escaping the First Order because she's deluded herself into thinking that her family is going to pick her up after over a decade of leaving her there. When Maz actually confronts her with the truth - that whomever left her there will never come back to Jakku - her response is to quite literally refuse the call to adventure and run off like a pouting toddler. And when she's confronted by Kylo Ren, he tells her that she thinks of Han Solo as the father she never had - a sign that she's internally recognizing that the people she's going to think of as family are indeed those who are in her future, not in her past. But the mystery of who her original family actually was is left unresolved, and while she's come to terms with the fact that she got dumped in a junkyard planet, this mystery is still important to Rey. Finn's equivalent mystery was not treated with remotely the same kind of gravity, and that's why it isn't going to take up much more screentime, if any.

Anyhoo... I really get the feeling that this whole "Bio Hexacrypt" thing is going to be a throwaway line that John Boyega kept f*cking up the delivery on for whatever reason, and the crew are teasing his struggle with the artwork. Ought to make for some interesting outtakes.

FIRST NEWS FROM THE LAST JEDI footage !!!

    from the share holders meeting...

''We just saw more "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" footage. In it, Luke asks Rey, "Who are you?" Then we see her deftly handle a lightsaber.''

Also making appearances in "The Last Jedi" footage: Chewbacca, General Leia Organa and Finn.

''One last thing on the "Last Jedi" footage: We saw all sorts of settings -- mountains, oceans, forests, deserts. Look suitably epic, exotic''

Seems odd that they would show actual dialogue... makes me think that the trailer is imminent. Wouldn't they want the first dialogue from Luke to be from the first trailer??

My guess is that this stuff is an excerpt from the first trailer - again, that should be hitting in a little over a month at Celebration Orlando with the way that things are looking.

Well it was sort of a trailer shown at the Disney shareholder's meeting. On a giant screen. Probably lasted 15 to 20 seconds.
