Let's do this. We always talk about the bad dialogue in the prequels (of which there is plenty), but let's talk about the dialogue that really works. What dialogue from the prequels really sticks with you? What lines really resonate with characters, or say something profound, or clever?

    I'll kick it off.

"Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering"
    -Master Yoda

This is such a great profound Yoda line. On par with anything from Empire, and it sets out a theme for the whole trilogy.

"Life seems so much simpler when you're fixing things"
    -Anakin Skywalker
This is a great character line. It captures his inner turmoil. Ot points back to his childhood escapism in droid-building. And it looks forward to his fatal flaw, trying to "fix" the Jedi Order, trying to "fix" Padme's future.

    "There's always a bigger fish"
    -Qui-Gon Jinn

Lastly, this bit from Qui-Gon. It's just such a perfectly Star-Warsy line. It's funny yet profound and perfectly quotable. It recalls the little proverbs from Old Ben in Episode IV.

I could list more, but I'll leave it to you. Where does the prequel dialogue really shine?

This whole moment I feel is some of the best Star Wars has to offer. People are I think finally start to appreciate this moment so I do know if it falls under the underrated umbrella or not.

I do feel this exchange is underrated.
    Obi-Wan: I will do what I must.

    draws lightsaber

    Darth Vader: You will try.

I like this dialogue between Obi-Wan and Dooku

Count Dooku: What if I told you that the Republic was now under the control of a dark lord of the Sith?

Obi-Wan: No, that's not possible. The Jedi would sense it.

Count Dooku: The Dark Side has clouded their vision. Hundreds of senators are now under the influence of a Sith lord called Darth Sidious.

    Obi-Wan: I don't believe you.

Sad thing is, he was actually telling the truth and it showed how naive the Jedi really were.

YES THIS. I love this scene. When I was a kid I was just like "Don't believe him Obi-Wan!" And watching it again as a grown-up I'm like "Oh. He's telling the truth."

Anakin: You couldn't be my frellin dad if you tried.

Obi-Wan: Why don't we just go kill more Tusken's and we can just disappear?!

Anakin: You're just frellin' ugly, that's all.

    Obi-Wan: I'm what?

    Anakin: You're just frellin' ugly!

Obi-Wan: That's it, you are not granted the rank of master!

The fact that Ian was actually beginning to loose his voice and they kept it, makes it even more creepy.

There are alot of great lines in the PT, but the first one which come into my mind was this one:

@deadmanwalkin009 That's the best. Literally the standout scene last time I watched AotC. Dooku deserved so much better.

So this is a weird one, but basically anything this guy says is gold to me...
    upload_2019-2-12_14-33-37.jpeg

Not sure why. I don't have an ear for stuff like iambic pentameter, but I feel like he was trying his best to match the Shakespearean tragedy vibe that Lucas was apparently going for. Not all heroes wear Jedi robes.

Totally! I felt sis whole story was a missed opportunity for George. His dynamics with Qui-Gon would of been interesting to see and he should of been the main villain of the PT.

Especially considering he's this upper class populist wannabe revolutionary that GL would eye-roll the life out of. Christopher Lee fit the role perfectly. Every line was dripping with insidious disdain.

Great list so far, there's a ton of good lines to choose. I feel the few groaners of lines overshadow the many good ones. Qui-Gon and Obi Wan's lines stand out as memorable to me. Dooku's line were deliciously arrogant filled and delivered expertly by Lee.

For real though. I had this weird experience where, as a kid, I really didn't understand half of what Sio Bibble said. When I re-watched the movie again in college, I still remembered all the sound and rhythm of his dialogue, but suddenly it meant something.

I know, "something something it's like jazz something something" :p

The encounter between Sidious and Yoda, in Sidious's office :

Sidious - At last, the Jedi are no more...
Yoda - Not if anything to say about it... I have !

Anakin Don’t say that Master you are the closest thing I have to a farther

Also Queen Jamilla We must keep faith in the Republic. The day we stop believing democracy can work is the day we lose it.

This is already been touched on, but I think the entire "You were the chosen one" speech is fantastic.

Also Mace Windu: I don't think so.

For some reason I always liked Obi-Wan's "good job!" joke in AOTC, in fact I say it to myself whenever I mess up.

Qui-Gon: The ability to speak doesn't make you intelligent.

I know it's been said to death, but:

This exchange right here is probably my favorite exchange in the entire Prequel Trilogy. Palpatine knows Anakin's fears, and is intentionally exploiting that fear by telling him an old Sith myth about a being who, quite possibly, had control enough of the force to keep people from dying. And as Doug Walker pointed out in his video, for one scene Lucas pulled back the curtain on the Star Wars mythos he created, and gave us a glimpse into the world's history. But not only that, but Ian McDiarmid's delivery of this bit of dialogue was very sly, and with it raises so many questions about it and its implications. Is this story just a myth? Was Palpatine lying through his teeth just to further turn him? Or was the story true? Could someone create life? Could that explain Anakin's mysterious virgin birth? Was he the one that killed Plagueis? He certainly seemed to have something of smug look of satisfaction as he describes the irony of this mythical character's demise!

Combine that with a moody setting at an opera, and John Williams' dark and foreboding music, and you have one of the greatest bits of dialogue in any of the three films. Something I sometimes feel we take for granted, given the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise's celebrity meme status, a meme that has been reposted ad nauseum.
