I read the novel. It doesn't say who left her or with whom but Plutt tracks her down at Maz's castle. Chewie pulls his arm off as described by MSW. Kylo also probes her mind and finds a barrier that he can't get through and it scared him. It is clear someone has altered her mind and put in some protection. Kylo also keeps asking her if she is just a scavenger. During their fight he says it is you. Snoke also says Klyo was right about her to Hux. Clearly they know who she is. Not sure why she was left with Plutt. Rey is disgusted by him and how he looks at her. It could be she was not left with him but he was holding her to keep her from runing after whomever was leaving her. I think she lived in the village that was destroyed when she was younger too.

BB-8 and Finn are her first friends ever too. I don't think she will have romantic feelings for Finn either. She has a moment with Poe and it seems like he will be her Han solo.

So I wonder if Unkar tries to steal back the Falcon in Episode 8, and then Chewie rips his arm off. Could be cool to save that scene for the next movie.

The novelization already has that event listed as happening. They could retcon it to take place in Episode VIII, but I don't think that they're going to do that because then we'd be stuck with the absurdity of canon tiers again. At best, it'd probably be mentioned offhanded fashion ("Trust him? That Wookiee nearly tore my arm off!").

Rey being left with Plutt points to some dire circumstances at the time. Whoever did it must have thought indentured servitude was a nessesary evil to keep her safe.

I don't think Kylo left her, and I don't think he was even aware of who she might be until the mind probe.

Let's not forget Kylo was likely a young teenager when Rey was brought to Jakku.

My guess is she was being hidden from Snoke and it was her mother who brought her to Jakku. Luke, Han, and Leia probably didn't even know about it.

As indicated in the crawl the first order is looking for Luke who is the last Jedi. No one is looking for Rey. If she is Luke's daughter and no one is looking for her, then either no one knew Luke had a daughter (pretty unlikely given her age in the flashback) or she is presumed dead.

Obi Wan, Luke, and Yoda all confirmed as voices is Rey flashback. Plutt also confirmed in the flashback-

The novelization mentions something to the effect of Rey hearing "don't worry, dear, I'll come back for you" in the sequence. Something feminine in nature rather than masculine - and I don't see Ben Solo ever saying something like that.

He does apparently know Leia, from his remarks "She'll always be royalty to me...". He's old enough to have probably known Bail Organa, possibly even Anakin and Padme.

I suspect we'll never know the answer to the rest of your question, though. Or why Luke would make a map in the first place, put it in two parts and have some kind of plan for the circumstances that would bring the parts together again. The short answer is- they needed it for the story. I find that to be unsatisfactory, but YMMV.

Im curious to why so many link Lor San and Rey together saying he looked after her or something? I have seen no hints of this and the only link so far is that he happens to be on Jakku at the beginning of the story and he knows the Skywalkers. My feeling is that no one other then R2 and Luke actually knows about Rey.Perhaps Kylo also was to know too but it feels like that part was cut out of the movie.

Remember her bitter line to BB-8 "Classified ?! ...Me too....big secret"
A wink to the audience but perhaps more then that. Perhaps more hints that she senses the truth subconsciously but doesn't understand it like the images of the ocean and the island in her head. She might also have been probing Unkar with questions but to no avail.

LS Tekka will be a known character for sure but the most likely option is that he is someone we don't know YET. Possible options for mr. Tekka

    - Bobba Fett (i really don't think so and i would prefer Dengar as ROTJ continuation mercenary)
    - Ezra or even Kanan (depending on the aging, this is possible, the name here is changed in order to protect development of SW Rebels)
    - Someone from "SW Rogue One" (this might be the most likely one)
    - Wedge Antilles (if he's someone from OT i would love to pay respect to Rogue Squadron Leader)

But the notable thing to this question is that i consider LS Tekka is on Jakku because the map piece he was looking for was in Jakku, perhaps left in and by the same person that left Rey in first hand, therefore LS Tekka might have nothing to do with Rey.

I just came from my second viewing, and I realized now that he knows who Kylo is/was, so he was very much in the know of the Solo/Skywalker ins and outs.

    I
In the visual dictionary it makes it clear that he is a new charater who lived through order 66 and the oppression of the empire. He was a member of a group called the church of the force that were jedi sympathizers during the empire.

I agree, he has nothing to do with Rey. Which is most unfortunate, but such are the ways of JJ.

Seriously so many people did not understand the finale, it was totally genius and was a great ending. When people say they were dead the entire time i cringe. if the ending of the new trillogy is that complex and thought ought ill be a happy guy.

Given that Kathleen Kennedy has stated that Max Von Sydow will be in Episode VIII, I do think you'll get your answers yet.

Why are we discussing Lor San Tekka again?

No real friend of Rey's would give her to Unkar Plutt. Kylo Ren, himself brought her to him on Jakku, to hide her from the light.

I think we've seen the last of Jakku. Maz told Rey her parents "are never coming back". Rey accepted that and thus did not journey back to Jakku at the end of TFA, instead she went on the Falcon to find Luke Skywalker on 'Craggy Island' ("Father Ted" reference...! ;) )

In regards to that scene, the novelization says that she hears a voice that says "I'll come back, sweetheart. I promise." around the time of Rey's placement on Jakku.

So unless Ben has incesty feelings toward his sister, it's not him.

    So let's examine the facts...

Rey was left of Jakku at around 5 by an unknown person that promised to come back and called her sweetheart.
She was held back by Unkar Plutt and watched someone she cared about leave in a ship.
She keeps a doll of a Rebel pilot in her shelter.
She wears a rebel pilot helmet when she eats alone.
She's mechanically inclined, good with a melee weapon, and a great climber.
She's heard the name Luke Skywalker but thought he wa a myth.
She's heard of Han Solo, the smuggler.
She's heard of the Falcon, but didn't know what it looked like.
The only person on Jakku that knows the Skywalkers is also the leader of the Church of the Force. He happens to know Kylos true identity and has respect for Leia. He also just happens to have a missing piece of a map of Luke Skywalker's location.
It was mentioned by Han that Luke was looking for a Jedi Temple.
Kylo Ren immediately was surprised when he heard FN -2187 was helped by "a girl" on Jakku. "What girl?" was his line in the movie.

I feel like Lor San Tekka has known Luke's location because he knew the location of the Jedi temple. Maybe Luke and Lor had some adventures together and found it. The missing piece of the map was deleted by the Emporer so nobody would be able to find the temple. That's why when R2 downloaded the Imperial archives, that location was missing. R2 knew Luke and Lor were heading to the uncharted area together, he may have even tagged along. After Luke's academy was destroyed, Luke left R2 and went to exile himself in the one place nobody would find him. The old Jedi Temple.

Back to Rey, Jakku would be the perfect place to allow her to grow up, under the watchful eye of a friend of the Skywalker's and of the Jedi. There's a reason why Lor would make his home on Jakku. Nobody voluntarily lives there without good reason. He knows the Solos and Skywalkers. He's on Jakku to watch Rey or to not draw attention to his Church.

Even if Rey is not Luke's daughter, she may have been a student at the academy and the only child left. She needed to be hidden from the KoR or she would be killed. I also feel like Kylo knows there's a girl on Jakku that was once a student at the academy.
