Last Shot was actually pretty fabulous. it had some dismissible silliness about an ewok and the time structure of the novel is a bit of a challenge for some people, but the story is big fun. probably not for everyone. but if you're a fan of Han and Lando, it's the bomb! : D

did you read Catalyst already? i'd like more Guardians of the Whills too! i could spend endless adventures with Chirrut and Baze.

Well, there is this book. It's for children, but that shouldn't stop you if you are a "fan".

I LOVED LOVED LOVED Catalyst. Both that one and the novelization of Rogue One were fantastic. Just like you I would love to see more Chirrut and Baze. I'm not sure why they aren't giving us more of them.

I will check it out. I'd not seen that one yet. Probably just overlooked it since it's a YA novel. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem. With the way they are doing things, I think it's better to just ignore the target audience and just grab everything, that's not an adaptation.

yeah. some of the YA novels have been quite good.
i'm not even sure why Lost Stars or Most Wanted are considered YA.

    Releases September 2018:
    • September 5: Star Wars #53 (Hope Dies, 4/6), and Doctor Aphra Annual #2
    • September 12: The Last Jedi #6 (6/6), and Darth Vader #21 (Fortress Vader, 3/6)
    • September 19: Star Wars #54 (Hope Dies, 5/6), and Lando #5 (Double or Nothing, 5/5)
    • September 26: Poe Dameron #31 (final issue!), and Doctor Aphra #24

With the conclusion of the Lando miniseries, the The Last Jedi adaptation, and the ongoing Poe Dameron series, September seems to be the month of endings, leaving only Star Wars, Doctor Aphra and the New Darth Vader as the remaining ongoing series while there are no new miniseries. Only in October the Solo adaptation will start (five issues).

    Releases October 2018:
    • October 3: Star Wars #55 (Hope Dies, 5/6)
    • October 10: Solo #1 (5/5)
    • October 17: Darth Vader #22 (Fortress Vader, 4/6)
    • October 24: Doctor Aphra #25

From December, the Age of Republic series will start. In a period of four months, we will receive eight issues. Each around one character from the prequels: Qui-Gon Jinn, Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jango Fett, Anakin Skywalker, Count Dooku, Padme Amidala, and General Grievous. This series will be followed with series about the Age of Rebellion and the Age of Resistance.

The DJ one-off has already come out (January 31, 2018). The Beckett one-off will come out next month (August 15, 2018). I hope this information helps.

Is it just me or is the release schedule just blah? I don't see anything that interests me. I will pick up the new Thrawn book, but the stuff they announced the other day... Nothing that jumps out. I'm not a fan of Chuck Wendig so I'll not be purchasing the series of comics he is doing. I don't know, it seems like the last 18 months or so the releases have been bland.

I am disappointed in that too since Vader has lately been fantastic. But the comics industry these days Is just a series of mini-series comic titles. They constantly end a series so they can restart it again with a brand new #1 issue, and gain the subsequent bump in sales that provides. This current Darth Vader run is already the 2nd run for him since Marvel retook the brand in 2015. So that's 2 full runs in just 3 short years.

(While Star Wars has not yet done this, often we see a new series roll up into the old one and resume the previous numbering scheme. Then the process repeats)

Those feel almost more like Hellboy comics than Vader, but I like that they're trying out various genres in the comics. The duality of Vader being a hero and a demon depending on which side you're on is fascinating and I'm excited to see how they explore it.
