    [IMG] Art Not Final

In the last few weeks we have done several reports on the possible release date of the Rogue One Blu-ray. Most of the clues have pointed to a possible release in the last week of March or the first week of April. Now, a new listing of the movie on Best Buy pretty much confirms the exact date.

    February 20, 2017

The first clue we got about the date for the Blu-ray was the news about the upcoming Titan's book titled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - The Official Mission Debrief. The book is scheduled to hit the shelves March 28 and was said to 'coincide with the movie's home release' (here).

Later StarWarsJunk got their hands on a list from an employee webinar for a Walmart DVD distributor, which listed Rogue One for release on April 4th. Later, they had to remove their post from the web.

Now Best Buy has listed the movie on their site for pre-order to be received in home or through store pick-up by April 4. This backs up the Walmart report and pretty much confirms Rogue One's home release date.

Tuesday April 4, 2017 makes perfect sense for the movie's home release. If you remember, The Force Awakens Blu-ray dropped on April 5 (again a Tuesday) with an earlier digital release on April 1 (Friday). Obviously, the pattern is the same and we can expect Rogue One to hit the digital market on March 31 (Friday).

Also, it will be interesting to see if the European release of the movie will again be 2 weeks after it becomes available in the US, like it was with The Force Awakens.

Special thanks to our reader Robert Long who spotted the 'Best Buy' listing.

    UPDATE!

    February 21, 2017

It seems that Best Buy has taken down the listing, which you can still see above as a screenshot. If you visit the same page you get the following:

Our best guess is that they jumped the gun and posted the listing earlier. This was no mistake. I assume an official announcement for the Rogue One Blu-ray release will come in the following days. The first possibility is tomorrow during this week's The Star Wars Show.

Stay tuned for more updates on this.

I wonder if Target or Walmart will have exclusive content or packaging. I am assuming the 3D version will be out later, with more exclusive content than this release. We are suckers !!!! ;):p:D:rolleyes:

The German release date is May 4 and I'm not happy about that.

This list of Bonus Features is underwhelming to say the least.

It's sad that they aren't releasing 4k version of the movie. Figured they would be all over that.

I have a 4k tv so I'll wait patiently this time around, plus with streaming capabilities now I can watch the films and extras for free. Then I'll purchase the collectors's edition or an edition that is worth my time and muni.

I can't seem to order a copy from Walmart or Best Buy in Canada. Best Buy is showing a wrong release date and WalMart says you cant purchase them online. I want that Best Buy steelbook!

4k can take a while, Disney hasn't released a single UHD Blu-Ray yet.

Most of those sound like short featurettes, which is a little underwhelming. Let's see.

I seriously doubt that the lack of deleted scenes has anything to do with concern over reshoots. That was something that seems to have been of far more concern to a portion of the fanbase than it was to LFL. Movies always end up having reshoots, and in this case it resulted in a movie that went over very well with filmgoers. If I'm Gareth and LFL, I'm proudly saying, "Hey, check out the path we took to get to that final cut!"

IMHO, this is just about pimping another version of the blu-ray somewhere down the road and trying to get fans to purchase multiple copies of the same damned thing, only with a few little extras like deleted scenes. If that's the case, then they're getting one buy out of a lot of us, and we'll eventually find the deleted scenes somewhere on Da Wide Wide World of Web. ;)

Now here's an odd thing I noticed.

There's still no Amazon pre-order for Rogue One.

They have a release date listed, but the blu-ray/DVD is listed as "Currently Unavailable. Want us to email you when this item becomes available?"

Isn't it a bit odd for Amazon to wait so long to start pre-orders for something like this?

Disney Star Wars is about teasing and not giving anything until the very last minute... It's getting very annoying if you ask me.

Rant time! Anger leads to hate etc... and definitely suffering.

Why O Why can't Disney get the situation sorted so us in the UK who buy the Blu-ray have a digital copy included rather than having to buy it separately. Most annoying !!!
