How did Vader get to Bespin before Han and the crew? How did he know to go there?

Well Boba Fett was tracking the Falcon. I imagine he was more or less going in a straight line to Bespin. So Fett may have told Vader to go to bespin. Remember the Falcon had no hyperdrive, so Vader had plenty of time to get there before Han.

Thanks...of course "time dilation be damned" as that pesky Newtonian issue would wreck this timeline as many if not all others in SW.....

Putting this in simple terms...No time dilation to speak of. When a ship travels through hyperspace it only needs to go light speed for just a fraction of a second. This initiates the hyperdrive to allow the ship to fall into hyperspace, where you exist in real time in relative relationship to normal space. Think of hyperspace as a sublayer of space that allows direct travel similar to how a wormhole works. This is why you have to have specific navigation routes to avoid dense objects that effect spacetime. The difference between hyperspace and a wormhole is that a wormhole takes you directly to point B via folded space. In hyperspace you are able to move from point A to point B at a rate faster than light, relative to the distance travelled, but in the same linear method as you would in real space. And since physics is on it's head in hyperspace, the standard Newtonian laws and those of relativity do not come into play.

Yeah i think ESB took place over a long peiod of time. Time is hard to judge in space or even on dagobah. I imagine Luke was training for quite a long time.
I imagine lightspeed is like traveling through a wormhole. Because you can't go .5 past lightspeed. The closer you get to the speed of light the slower you go. So its impossible to go faster than light. I believe the Falcon had some special navagational computer that somehow shortened distances. Making the Kessel run in less than 12 parsects.

Not really. You will appear to be going slower in relation to those not moving at lightspeed. However, you will not freeze. You will move at the rate that you are moving. To those outside looking, it may look like you freeze for an instance, if it would even be noticeable. In reality, it would look like you just disappeared, or popped out of existence. Because you are moving faster than the light that would be reflected back at the viewer, they would not see you move away. If light speed was not possible, then light would never reach beyond the singularity where it is emitted.

NOW...The trick is, that with what we know about physics today, it would take infinite energy to reach lightspeed in a craft do to the exponential amount of power it would take to move the mass of the vehicle. That is where the hyperdrive comes in. It operates outside of the realm of physics that we understand. Hence, why it is science fiction. When the hyperdrive is activated the ship is pulled toward hyperspace. Think of real space having a positive charge, and everything in it has a negative charge. This keeps everything in real space, and keeps the negative charge of hyperspace in place, and infinitely close. Then think of a hyperdrive switching the polarity of the ship to a positive charge. This would cause two things. It to be pushed out by the positive charge of real spaced, and pulled in by the negative charge of hyperspace. This is why you see the ships actually accelerate into hyperspace. Yes, I am from the future... LOL

Yes I know about Hyperspace. It is the blasting around at sublight velocities, .25-.5c that are troublesome. Read "The Forever War" for an outstanding SF novel and how it takes time dilation into account.

Maybe because of Boba Fett. Im not too sure. I’d imagine Boba Fett was tracking the Milenium Falcon or something along the lines of that. Maybe he had spies or something. Im sure the bounty hunter would know where his targets are and where they are going.
