    I find it amusing that Lando's selfish decision became rants with none other than Darth Vader to honer their original deal.

    I just assumed Vader had a plan, and unnecessary and unpredictable violence in the chamber could ruin it. He wanted to quell Chewie- he didn't need him dead.

    Plus, the more of Luke's companions that Vader held alive, the more leverage he had.

    He needed a better mechanic for his limbs. They were kind of stiff. Chewie would have got him working better, while also fixing his own droid! Threepio!!

    Come to think of it, C3PO's name is never mentioned in front of Vader, right??? Because that would be awkward....or touching.

    No, No, No.... Vader should be the apex of evil. To think otherwise is foolish. Why else would all star-systems fear him. I honestly think they intentionally dumbed down the "evil" of Darth Vader to coddle the mellinneum generation. The dude is pure evil, quit trying to make him human. Please.

    Exactly, Vader knew he may need to use Luke's friends in the future to gain influence with him. Vader needed pawns that could be used to sway Luke to the dark side.

    Indeed. Plus, from Vader's perspective, the Force choke would make quick work of anybody he needed dead, so he didn't need Boba to do it for him.
