FINALLY we see this long foretold Castle of Darth Vader's brought to the screen.. I believe it was also in the works for The Force Awakens at some point. Pretty cool it's placement is on Mustafar, paying some respects to the PT.

Not sure what my question is, more than to get people's thoughts on that scene in particular. What is the significance of Mustufar to Vader at this point and why would he want this to be his home base? Is it to serve as a reminder of his hatred of his former brother Obi Wan and the Jedi? Where he last felt Padme's heart still beating? What do you think his meditation consists of other than soaking in the bacta tank?

Interesting to note that in the novelization of RO, his robed assistant tells Krennic basically that he's one of the privileged few to have seen Vader's abode and lived to tell the tale and to keep what he saw to himself.

And another crazy scenario in terms of the ST.. is it possible this is where we saw Luke and R2 in Rey's dream? Is this a place of interest to Kylo and the Knights of Ren?

I think it's significant to him because it is the place where Anakin Skywalker truly died and was reborn as the Darth Vader we would later come to know. The injuries he sustained there and the pain they continuously caused him become something he would later embrace to fuel his anger and hatred, as we've learned from some of the novels.

Ive been wondering that myself. Not about the castle, but the possibility of him being on Mustafar since anakin's saber had a significant history there. Vader being on the planet was probably a form of self-punishment because he knows what he has done is wrong but its too late for him now like he told his son and I wouldnt even be surprised if its built on the very same bank where he was killed.

My only nitpick with the movie was that they didn't label it Mustafar. I suppose they didn't want to confirm that the Vader scene was comming up, but come on, every fan was elbowing each other in the theater saying "Here it comes!"

I thought it was interesting having him placed on the planet were he underwent his crispy transformation because in TROTS he was up and about after getting his suit, maybe he has to check in now and then for skin graph spa treatment.

Have you forgotten the part when he broke free from the table & went on a walk about, I'd say it was less than year between these events.

I love that we finally got Vader's Castle in this.
I've always wanted to see it in something, and the fact that it was on Mustafar is perfection.
While I adore The Force Awakens, it was very clearly avoiding anything to do with the Prequels, so to see Mustafar again in such a big way (and even Coruscant at one point) was splendid.
It makes poetic sense that it's Mustafar, as this is where Anakin Skywalker died and Vader was essentially born. Birthed through fire and risen from the ashes.
I've always hated the idea that Vader simply lived on Coruscant by Palpatine's side all the time, so to know that his home is Mustafar is much better.
It also fits with Star Wars: Rebels, as the episode 'Fire Across the Galaxy' establishes that Mustafar is where Jedi go to do, and was also the episode that introduced Vader at the end. All of this now makes sense.
And in terms of Kylo and the Knights of Ren, I'd love to see Mustafar return in Episode VIII or IX (the more Mustafar the better), as Kylo would definitely be interested in his grandfather's former home and the world he ruled over; plus the fact that Kylo and the Knights need a home themselves- where do they actually live?

Also, the fact that Vader now canonically has a butler is easily the greatest thing ever.

Yes, I love that Vader has a butler! :)

It was exhilarating to see Mustafar again. And it looked amazing what without those lava mining robots or the blue-hued heat shields on the buildings. As much as I love the Prequels, there is so much that went wrong in the execution of the scenes on Mustafar and the Battle of the Heroes. If you haven't already, there is some great concept art of Mustafar and that battle on Ryan Church's website: http://ryanchurch.com/star-wars-iii/

Why is Vader's abode on Mustafar. its a place where he basically had domestic abuse on Padame and took and L to Obi-Wan. Is there a meaning behind him being there? I mean this is where everything turned for him. is it memories or using it as more hatred. To me why would you want to be in a place that has a significant meaning to Vader. hmmm

Palpatine wanted him to know his place and actually it is his torture chamber to brainwash his Inquisitors. And of course the self reference for Vader and the double meaning of this quote.

Would have been a bit odd to explain why he has a castle there, the story demanded an explanation for the inner struggles of the empire and it did exactly what its supposed to do.

Did anyone else think, just for a second, that it was going to be Hayden Christensen in the tank?
I personally would have loved that.

That scene truly tells you everything about Krennic when paired with the scene of Tarkin taking over the Death Star.
He's desperate and completely motivated by his desires to reach the top.

This is it. Vader deals with his injuries daily, and Mustafar reminds him why. He's motivated by the faint possibility that he'll find Obi-Wan.

It's all about the member berries, and for Vader Mustafar is full of them. Force-choking his one true love Padme. Being defeated by his best friend Obi-Wan. Losing his lightsaber...again. Killing the last remaining Separatists. Lying wounded on the banks of the "River Styx" next to his master, Sidious. Why wouldn't someone conflicted build his home near to where he saw his life fall apart? These memories fuel him. It is why he was able to be redeemed.
