SPECULATION Vader's Castle on Mustafar

I thought getting to see Vader's castle was cool and I really liked the design. It was a neat way of introducing us to Vader in this movie.

 

That would have been nice.

I don't know why there was so much mist; I could barely make the naked-Vader model out.

 

I get your drift but there are reasons why he can't get a nod here.

Something tells me "Grandfather's Castle" will be in Episode 8...

 

Did anyone else notice the Empire motif when Vader was shown in the tank? That was a great nod to A New Hope

 

I sure hope so, it would be make a ideal location for Luke etc & TKOR to get a showdown on.

In the movie, you can hear it exactly when they're draining the tank and about to show Vader's face.

 

Yes! Definetly. I thought that for a sec. But in my case i personally wouldn't have loved that.
Hayden is not that bad in ROTS but his face for me is not threatening enough. In OT Vader is in his helmet during almost 3 movies. Like the idea not to show his face in RO. It's a dark story. Like the way Vader appears. One of the best parts of the film.

I want to know what Darth Vader's doorbell sounds like.

 

Also, it was a surprise to see Vader's castle, because some of Ralph McQuarrie's concept artwork that he drew for The Empire Strikes Back had already been recycled for use in designing Maz Kanata's castle in The Force Awakens.

 

I loved seeing the castle, but can someone point me to where we are told this is definitely Mustafar? I thought it was conspicuous that they didn't label that planet. That had to be intentional, right? Correct me if I'm wrong but Vader's planet was the only one not specifically labeled in Rogue One.

 

Pssst...................there is a high probability that director Krennic designed and oversaw the building of Vader's castle. But what I would like to know is: what were Vader's wishes?

Could the castles location on Mustafar be partly down to Vader's attachment, sentiment, guilt and sorrow towards Padmé Amidala? It was afterall the last place he saw Padmé alive.

 

According to the visual guide of R1 Vader's castle was built over an ancient castle holding dark secrets. I think this pretty much confirms that we will revisit the castle in the ST.

 

Lord Ren (@Ninjabeans), I just wanted to congratulate your keen sense: I was not expecting to find Vader's castle in Rogue One (and you weren't the only one who suggested it), but there it was! I have to say, Rogue One really has put to bed my "doubting" about what they'll put in movies going forward. It had prequel stuff, Rebels stuff, OT stuff, and unused concept design stuff. You really got the sense that Lucasfilm exercised more creative freedom here - and maybe had more confidence - than they did with TFA.
