References perhaps, but they are definitely avoiding using city landscapes planets and original ships, etc. while recycling everything from the Originals. All the planets we visit have the same look and feel as Mos Eisely or Endor every damn time.

Except for Scarif, Mustafar and Eadu. Which are fairly important and probably most similar to or straight from places in the prequels.

Definitely Hosnian Prime was a nod to Coruscant (ok that apeared first in Jedi SE), Jedah even had some Tatooine look, but that was part of the prequels too, Rogue and and TFA and Rogue one had new ships. I don't know how many new planets and some old, like Mustafar, we have now and like the new stuff in the prequels we have to accept them. There are some limitations due to sets on earth but people seem to enjoy it.

I've noticed this as well, but I also noticed that the planet we first saw Cassian on did have a cityscape look to it, similar to Coruscant, before it panned down to the street level.

If we're talking just the sequel trilogy- then yeah, it pretty much stuck to OT nostalgia in just about every aspect, including plot. They apparently thought everyone would appreciate that, and some did (including myself) but it turned a lot of people off, and I get that. I like to think that Johnson learned from this, and that Episode 8 will give us the best of both worlds- originality with nostalgia. Rogue One accomplished it with a far more difficult task- they had to reconcile its plot with that of ANH that immediately followed (and account for absences of stuff like U-Wings, TIE Strikers, etc in the OT) while Episode 8 has a pretty blank slate to work with going forward. Rogue One, ironically, really gives me hope for the franchise.

Did Vader's castle reminded anyone of this? :D

It was an asteroid colony, right? Something like the Ring of Kafhrene.... something along those lines. Really liked the design of it, though.

I'd figure Vader would feel more comfortable with droids rather than a man-servant, but hey, now we have extra lore and someone else to aimlessly theorize is Snoke.

Maybe a darkside parallel to the Church of the Force?

Same with the streets of jedah same. Jakku same. Skerit was a beach world but still only one setting. Its like every planet only has one building and a camp. Lol

Guess that's a glass half empty/full kind of situation. You are asking for more original locations...

A bit of a 'no win' scenario. Too recognizable and you get blasted for unoriginality. Too different and you get blasted for inconsistency. Goldilocks is a difficult customer to please.

All deleted scenes are actually canon, unless directly contradicted by an already existing piece. I'm not sure about that scene in particular being canon, as it refers to Palpatine giving direct control of regions to the local governors. I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen until later.
Is that confirmed? Krennic was personally appointed to the council by Palpatine, was he not?

I just figured Director Krennic wasn't close to Sheev, unlike Imperial figureheads such as Moff Tarkin.
Vanee was one of the Emperor's advisors, who specialised in ship-related matters. He appears in ROTJ and the novel Tarkin, and does not belong to any darkside church as far as I'm aware.

Eye don't know what that is. It almost rings one bell, but the reference saurs on over my head.

Actually he's his own new character, Pablo Hidalgo clarified that.. his tweet has been posted here somewhere. The Character from ROTJ and Tarkin is different.

And good point! I'll have to watch that scene again, as Palpatine dissolved the Senate during ANH. But the scene does seem to be referenced to some degree.

I get your point. Just reminded me of the place 'nowhere' from gotg but not as interesting. They've really been avoiding anything shiny like coruscant..whatever issues the prequels had it wasn't corscant. I agree that sw needs to feel lived in, but that shouldn't mean make every planet scarce, desolate and completely broke. I get part of thev wear and tear is from the empire occupying but c'mon! Part of the reason everyone loved empire so much was cloud city and the right variety of environment. Disney has definitely nailed all the aliens and designs in clothing. I'll definitely give them that.
