The one BIG QUESTION: Is that just a set photo of Luke and R2 without the force ghost look or is that a flashback? Like it can't be from the current timeline?

I think since this is an Annie Liebowitz that the force ghost effects havent been added yet. May even be a staged photo.

The Vanity Fair coverage of TLJ was pretty boring, so I hoped for two things for the coverage of TROS:

1) Kylo and Rey clashing lightsabers
2) Knights of Ren

And I got both things! I'm happy!

 

Great stuff as always, love the Vanity Fair shoots! Also...Kylo looks very Supreme Leader-esque on that cover. I'm here for it.

 

If I had to take a guess... maybe a flashback from when the temple/jedi school was burned down, even if it's a staged photo.

 

Could be, because of the fire. But also remember, these are Vanity Fair photos, not movie stills with final VFX. It's totally possible we'll get Force-ghost effects in this scene.

 

Not likely. His hair and beard were not grown out at that time, and he did not have a glove on his hand. Brown Robe, white Tunic... etc, etc.

 

I dont think it is a flashback. Luke's hair is like it was in TLJ, not like it was during the flashbacks in TLJ.

 

These are great but the one that caught my eye, especially with the description of the photo, is Zorri Bliss. The photo description says:

Keri Russell as the masked scoundrel Zorri Bliss, seen in the Thieves' Quarter of the snow-dusted world Kijmi.

So we know Zorri Bliss is most likely a thief and definitely a scoundrel. Kijmi seems similar to the city/planet that we see in the teaser with the ship (believed to be the same from Rey's vision) flying towards. So potentially that ship is Zorri's. Being a scoundrel and a thief certainly would put her in the same company as Unkar Platt. Could Zorri be the "more to Rey's parents story" that JJ was talking about? I think there is certainly potential here that Zorri is linked with Rey's origin.

 

I wouldn't rule out anything, yet. In the 1981 early draft of "Revenge of the Jedi" (before it was renamed "Return of ..." ) the script had very wild ideas, many of them didn't make it to the final Episode VI. However, decades later, we saw some of these unused ideas added to the prequels and sequels. Some stuff I recall from the 1981 early draft of Revenge of the Jedi were: the capitol of the Empire (we saw it in Episode I), Clones (we saw it in Episodes II), the Emperor pulling a lasersword out of his sleeve, and a lava lake (both in Episode III), the hero using the Force to steal a red lightsaber and use it in combat (Episode VIII) . What else is in this old script? close to the climax of the story: Ben Kenobi returns IN THE FLESH to help/guide Luke in his final face-off with Vader.

The idea (from Lucas himself) about returning a dead hero in the flesh was still out there, for years.

 

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think they are on the DS but on the Falcon!
