VII left me way more excited for VIII then VIII did for IX

    So you do care?

as much as everyone who likes the storydirection, I have the right to express my disappointment. The concern about not enough interest in IX is not a thing that only fans mention, it is even mentioned by a lot of pro reviewers. So what do we have for IX? A handful rebels in the Falcon including Rey (Leia cannot be in IX, so she has to disappears between TLJ and IX). On the other side we have Kylo and Hux with a few walkers and a ship. Ohh not to forget broom boy maybe. So you may see this as a great chance for IX and forward, but many see everything finished with TLJ.

Nah, my Saga ends with Rey holding out the Lightsaber at the end of TFA. That abomination of a scene in TLJ along with the movie and Episode 9 will never exist in my world.

It’s actually the perfect ending to the Skywalker Saga with Rey/Luke and the ending of TFA as he is the true hope. Rian Johnson killed the rest of the Saga for me.

There mere fact that some of you seem to have so much vested in your life on the outcome of a movie is rather hilarious. It is as if your girlfriend cheated on you. You have had to invest all of $15.00 into this movie. Get over it. Go live your life. It literally cost you nothing and changed nothing about your life. You can b***h and moan and gnash your teeth all you want, and it will not change this movie, nor will it effect how the filmmakers make the next one. You have broken up...just leave. Don't be the weird stalker ex-boyfriend that just keeps texting and driving his ex's house to see if another guy is there. The people that run these forums should seriously consider a 'venting' section for all the crybabies who said they are done with the saga. At least it would weed them out of the Episode 9 forum, but something tells me, that like the crazy ex they will just not be able to resist the temptation to keep stalking.

I honestly think the average directing/pacing did this more than anything.

Nothing felt as impactful as The Force Awakens, because JJ is a far superior director.

There is plenty of story and conflict left in IX. JJ can go in any direction he wants. And I want to see. I'm curious which one he'll choose.

    Except plz no time travel,

I disagree. JJ does well with first installments (Star trek reboot, TFA) but seems to stumble in sequels (God awful Star Trek into darkness).

TFA had another Death Star, and felt like an empire rehash with FO in terms of plot. Stakes were higher for me in TLJ, and conflict was different.

I still haven’t seen anyone say what they are excited for in episode 9. Because I’m curious.

The same thing I was excited for in 1980 and 2015 and substantially in 1983, 1999, and 2002.

    More Star Wars!

Far more of a driver of interest than who is somebody's pappy and what some supporting character was up to before we briefly met them.

There were no soap opera hooks in Star Wars.
We weren't dying to see The Empire Strikes Back because of some unaswered burning questions. The Death Star was destroyed, the arch was completed but we wanted more adventures in the galaxy far, far away, to spend more time with the characters we feel in love with, and to learn more about the force and Jedi knights.

Why did we want to see Temple of Doom or The Last Crusade?

Why did we see The Dark Knight?

Why did we see Terminator 2? Aliens? Both originals buttoned up nicely.

This line of argument is odd to me, essentially manufacturing discontent.

You do realize that comment was from last year, right? We know so little about it, it's by that fact alone is the reason why i'm not "excited." Call me when we get actual information/trailer.

I'm still mixed about TLJ, but hyped enough for EpIX.

I mean, I was as excited for Luke's return as I would have been for a Beatles reunion. Then it turns out The Beatles don't want to play the songs you have imagined.
And, guess what, John gets shot before the encores!

I totally hope JJ is as disrespectful to RJ as RJ was to him. I'd ignore that crap and use the bad editing in TLJ (what happened to his mechanical hand? Why didn't it fall to the ground? I'd say it is because Luke is really alive and use him. But the biggest failure is the story group. They are a complete failure. To allow a trilogy to move forward without any sort of plan is just insane. At least the OT had the same guy guiding it along. Sure, there are seams, but this one has more than just seams. It has gaping chasms. I was totally excited for VIII. Now I really don't care all that much about IX. I'll see it, but the excitement is just not there.

Given the way TFA ended we kind of knew that Luke/Rey would start on the island. So that limited our speculation about TLJ because we knew Finn/Rey would be separated for much of the film. Creating the force bond between Rey/Kylo was clever because it allowed the two characters to interact.

What really gets me excited about Episode IX is that there's going to be a time jump of some kind. The story needs some time to breath. Essentially the first two films happen over a few days.

So are you saying that JJ wasn't a very good producer of TLJ?
this is just my humble opinion, but i think that KK and JJ are running the whole show regarding the ST.

anyone remember how KK got JJ to get involved in the ST? have a read of this if you can't remember...
    http://ew.com/article/2015/08/12/star-wars-luke-skywalker-hooked-jj-abrams/

nobody will be able to convince me that JJ agreed to make TFA on the conundrum of 'Who is Luke Skywalker' and yet had no input whatsoever in what Rian Johnson directed.

in my opinion.. the story and every single character at the end of TLJ is exactly where JJ wanted it to be.
in my opinion JJ will be finishing the story he and Kasdan mapped out at the very beginning.
in my opinion RJ was given the tough job of getting from B to C with massive constraints of no time jump at the beginning and having a firm directive of where characters needed to be by the end credits.. and did a spectacular job, leaving JJ to go from whatever letter he desires (depending on time jump if any).. through to Z for the end of the trilogy.

but that's just my humble opinion ;)
