It will be interesting how Obi-Wan fights off these threats. I guess he doesn't want to get involved at first, further more I doubt he will use his lightsaber that much. So, maybe we have to consider that too for finding the most fitting villain.

Does Obi-Wan really need a villian? The leak mentioned a 6-8 episode season or mini series. This is an opportunity to explore the force what it can and can't do. For the time period (it's eight years after Sith, right?), it would seem strange to add a villian for the sake of one, 'cause Star Wars. Maul showing up doesn't make sense with what Rebels shows us.

So many possibilities! Meeting Qi'ra and maybe having to kill her would be an interesting twist.

Every story needs conflict. But as I mentioned in the OP, the conflict or villain doesn't need to be a person. So no, the series doesn't need a villain in the classical sense.

But keep in mind, some people want to see Kenobi in action again. So, he needs a physical enemy.

I kinda agree with this one. We definitely need to see how Obi-Wan learns the ways of "force-ghosting". And I want to see how he sees the Force after it kinda betrayed him.

As Pablo Hidalgo once said- "life-action > everything else". So, you can easily retcon this.

If they want one cohesive story then Rebels matters.

LF already had some contradicting stuff in the current canon. But yeah, a cohesive story would be better. There is still the way of remaking that very scene in live-action though.

I'm hoping low-profile compared to those listed to be honest, so maybe a henchman of Jabba's is causing problems for the Lars. Jabba gets named dropped, but no meeting between Obi-wan and Jabba. This way it can also show Obi-wan's own personal battles, such as remaining reclusive as the Empire asserts its control and mastery over the Force (possible cameo of Qui-Gon Jinn). The conflict between Uncle Owen and Obi-wan on how Luke should be raised, ANH gave a hint to some dispute between the two. Maybe the new villain can be related to this conflict. Finally a disturbance in the Force brings Maul back into the frame and the ending ties up with Rebels.

there is so much potential to this show. There can be several villains including, but not limited to:
    1) Obi Wan’s own mind. His frustration trying to contact Qui Gon (like the now-Legends novel.)
    2) Uncle Owen. (We can finally see Kenobi getting chased out of town and branded a “crazy old hermit.”)
    3) Sand People.
    4) Darth Maul (if they want to re-make what was seen in Rebels.)

I wonder if Owen knew what happened to Anakin or if he just knew, that he followed Obi-Wan as a Kid to become a Jedi and now he is dead like all the other jedi, because he followed Obi-Wan on that idealistic crusade.

This is definitely something we have to see. Why does Owen dislike Ben that much? Ben will probably bring danger to the homestead.

    This too.

A troubled Obi-Wan would be an interesting character flaw to explore in the Kenobi show, but it can't be the main "villain" of the thing. There is not much action in introspection, but it can set up some rather sweet drama :)

This would add a lot of context the character and his place in ANH in particular. (Again, I wouldn't describe Owen Lars as a "villain", but there is definitely a source of conflict there). It could also be interesting to have Owen or Beru question Obi-Wan's decision to hide the Son of Skywalker on Skywalker's home planet, and possibly have Owen & Beru discuss how to deal with the "Skywalker" name and have them refer to the boy "Luke Lars", or whatever. (A few seasons down the line, we could perhaps also see Luke learning that he's adopted and developing an interest in his Skywalker name, only for the Lars' to answer with white lies and vagueness that frustrates the young teen). This could help resolve some of the seemingly weirdness some of us have issues with in regards to Obi-Wan's plan, for although we all know the answers to these questions (Lucas was a little bit sloppy with the continuity when writing the PL requiring some after-the-fact head gymnastics to make it work), but it is always nice to see issues addressed on screen. But yeah, the Lars' family's troubled relations with Old Ben would probably be a key element of the show's framing story.

Sand People could simply be a background threat, of course, but it would also be interesting to see Obi-Wan seeking them out to investigate what happened with Anakin and that village he slaughtered. Drama and action would ensue!

I agree that seeing this stylized clash redone as live-action would be great! However, unless it was part of some forward-flash or something, we wouldn't get to see this until several seasons down the line. Kenobi is set somewhere between 13-10 BBY while the Kenobi-Maul duel occurs in 2 BBY, so we're unlikely to see this for a while...

Lots of cool stuff here, people :D Can't wait for the show to air!

That could explain a bit. Luke starting to use the Skywalker name later on. Why should there be an issue with it. Beru and Owen don't know that Vader is Anakin and Obi-wan can't tell them because he is already persona non grata and they refuse to talk to him at all.

Wouldn't that open the can of worms that is a Jedi Ezra Bridger popping in and leaving without much context. Because he is the canonical reason for Maul showing up.

I would think this as an angle could be interesting and even with a new villian.

I would probably prefer Obi One having his Jedi teachings really challenged when dipping his toes in local events. Leading him to discover a truth about himself and the force, ergo force ghost

I voted Other for boredom and restlessness. He'll want to do something about the Empire but knows he shouldn't. I think he'll have a hard time adjusting to the hermit's lifestyle at first.

So obviously, the argument against Maul is that, in Rebels, he's super surprised to learn that Kenobi is alive on Tatooine.

But we've worked around bigger inconsistencies before (remember "Vader killed your father"?)

If it's a choice between seeing Ray Park vs Ewan McGregor again, or preserving the integrity of a moment from Rebels, then I'm taking Ray v. Ewan hands down.

I'm thinking maybe introduce a renegade clonetrooper.

He acts autonomously and looks out soley for his own interests. He could be some kind of lone gun fighter who seeks out and captures wanted fugitives in exchange for financial reward.

This would be especially cool because you could have flashbacks to the Clone Wars (in life action) featuring Anakin.

It's pretty obvious that the main villains are going to be the two drunk dudes from the Cantina. There's going to be a huge back story regarding them and Obi-Wan, George Lucas was just talking about it yesterday. The Walrus Man's dad also had his arm cut off in a bar fight so there is going to be some awesome foreshadowing involved.

I think a Nightsister could be a good choice. It would be neat to at last have a live sction female Dark Side user:
