    ^ THIS!

And ultimately it's pretty redundant what any of the animated characters might think of themselves, as it depends on whom Yoda regards to (still) be a Jedi or not.

As well as whose continued existence Yoda knows about in the first place. He's not omniscient, after all.

He trusted in the force to know who was the last.

Like he trusted in the Force to beat Darth Sidious in a lightsaber duel? Even Yoda isn't all-knowing and all-seeing.

While he may not have been omniscient, he was pretty close in a couple of ways when the Force was in balance. Just as Obi Wan could feel the destruction of a planet full of non force users, Yoda could sense Jedi. This was highlighted when O66 was issued. Once the Dark Side clouded the Force and it became unbalanced, Yoda lost much of his sensitivity. It is possible that he felt all the Jedi but Aiinkini perish. He only knows Luke because of his immediate presence to him and through communication with Obi Wans Force Ghost.

Im pretty sure Luke is, was, and may perhapse always be the last Jedi.!? If Ahsoka lives, she expressly says she's no Jedi. I think that is on purpose. That way it wont contradict ROTJ when Yoda tells luke the last of the jedi will you be. Can't make Yoda a liar, Obi wan yes lol. Anyway. To whom Yoda speaks as being the other hope in TESB, it could be Ahsoka or Leia. Originally when the script was written there was no Ahsoka and Leia had not been determined as Luke's sister. So im not sure of the original intentions of that line. Except to cast doubt whether Luke survives.

Just as one can be a dark side user and not be a Sith (like Ventress, Savage, etc), I think one can be a light side user and not be a Jedi. The Jedi and Sith are ideologies and organizations of a sort, not simply designations of one being a Force wielder.

Given Yoda's wisdom and power in the Force, I think Luke was literally the last of the Jedi by that time in the series' history.
