I've seen TFA 4 times now in cinemas, and so many times online i can't even count.

But the other day i went back to watch all the trailers again, and i couldn't help but breakdown and cry (i can't be the only one right?). I was taken back to a time where i hadn't seen the movie. I was so excited to see this movie, and now that i have, and that i have to wait 1 and a half years to watch 8, breaks my heart (in a good way??).

The trailer (for me) gives me goosebumps whenever i see it, every scene plus the music and when Han says (the dark side, the Jedi, they're REAL (and i'm just their like "Yes *sobbing* yes they are")) made it one of my favorite trailers i had ever seen. But i watch the trailer, and can't help but feel that the movie could have been basically perfect. It was bloody amazing, but it was so close to being my favorite Star Wars film, and watching the trailer makes me sad that it wasn't as good as i wanted it to be (which is perfect, which is almost impossible).

So watch the trailer again, trust me.
(and tell me what you thought/felt!)

    EDIT:
I mean seriously, what movie can make you want to see the trailer over and over again (and cry) after you've watched the movie over and over again.....seriously.

It doesn't do it for me...I'm watching AOTC as I type this and it does more for me (maybe it's my childhood nostalgia)

The prequels were the first Star Wars movies i saw too, and i loved it (as a child would). I couldn't/wouldn't watch them again, but damn do they have some awesome scenes.
    More likely just personal preference.

Clones was a forced romance between two chemistry-free actors not given anything from their director but some of the most laughably cliched dialogue ever written for the screen.

remember that GL himself has stated on numerous occasions that it's mean to be A "Soap Opera" so the cheesiness is sort of fitting in .

But in regards to TFA, I think that the initial teaser ONLY was genius...which trialer are your effering to ? Some of them make me feel feelings and others are just like, "meh, Ian will watch..."

He's asking about your impressions about the trailers and tv spots now that you have seen the movie .

The ROTS trailer was incredible. The TFA trailer was great too - possibly setting my expectations for the film too high.

Call me crazy but to me The Force Awakens actually IS the best Star Wars movie so far. :D Every movie so far I had the troubles with. In this one everything clicked in the right place for me. Nothing like Jar Jar, Ewoks, prequel politics "romance" and dialogues, no whinny young protagonists, slow half of A New Hope and hospitality of Jabba the Hutt. Furthermore, the last Han scene had more impact to me than ANY twist or a loss in a SW movie so far. The stormtroopers can finally shoot and strategize and lightsabers feel powerful and sinister as they should. The humor was best, and the palette of locations is best of all as well.

I'm surprised how many stupid reasons people can come up with not to like the movie, I wonder what response would be if we got another Attack of the Clones?

On the trailer note though, the feeling is just the same, still great but not really different.

I loved how it started with, "for a thousand generations (ten thousand years)..."

Well I wouldn't call it stupid, exactly, but the execution was better than the actual story which is why it looked so much better than previous installments...are you saying that there is no difference (lliterally) from your before/after of watching the trailer ?

Yeah, that was the teaser and that was amazing. I remember when that dropped. 4pm GMT time I think. Back in the days when the internet would buffer every 10 seconds!

But it was the theatrical one I loved, with the ESB music at the start. Incredible.

Comparing things I have seen over 100 times to something I watched x times, is like comparing a movie I know for decades to a new release.

For me the 2nd teaser was the best. In fact the first one was cringeworthy imo. When I saw the first one I thought ep VII will be even worse than the preuqels, so I had very low expectations for the movie. However, when I saw the 2nd one I have to admit as an adult, my eyes got a bit teary, especially when Luke laid his hand on R2. I honestly say imo the 2nd teaser for TFA is the best movie trailer ever made. The music, the visuals all perfect. Never got so emotional over any other couple minutes long motion picture.
