Wedge Antilles/Rogue Squadron Movie Needed!!

As a fan of Rogue Squadron and the X-Wing books, I would love that. I'm doubtful that we'll see it, but I would be ecstatic if we did.

 

Seeing as how we are now entering the wonderful world of spinoff movies, I dare to say that anything is possible. Both Wedge and Rogue Squadron have a good fanbase so it can happen. I would love to see a movie about Rogue Squadron and not necessarily in between movies as I'd love to explore many more aspects of the SW universe and not just the Jedi vs Sith/ Rebelion vs Empire theme. Seeing what Wedge was doing after the events of ROTJ would be cool though if we were to see a movie based on the current storyline.

 

It sounds cool but it reminds me pretty much of R1 but with established characters instead of newly created ones .

 

I really think it could work. We have Thrawn established as being in the new canon, so maybe it's something set around Rogue Squadron taking on Thrawn between films or even after VI. That would be an epic showdown. But of course, there is plenty of Legends material to garner Rouge Squadron stories from. I could see it being much more of a Top Gun type film. Maybe not as cocky and bro-ish, but really focused on dog fighting, etc.

 

Yes! There are quite a lot of x-wings in rogue one but yes a fullmovie would be great!

 

I hope they make a movie about that legendary squadron, this difference is we viewers we'll see a lot more space.

 

Unfortunately the actor Denis Lawson said he would not return to play Wedge in The Force Awakens and the fact that we didn't see his character in Rogue One has me believeing he didn't want his likeness used for the graphics to make another actor look exactly like him. He did say something about coming back if it meant his role would be more expanded, I guess that means not being on an X wing all day or something XD

Who knows what Disney will be planning but now that you mention it, since we already got a movie set before A New Hope it would be good to have one set after the Return of the Jedi, show that the Empire is still vast and wide spread, severely crippled but still very dangerous. Fingers crossed that Denis will come back to play Wedge if we ever get the chance.

 

Rogue One was more than enough. No more Rogue movies.

 

I would piss my pants if I got to witness an actual Rogue Squadron movie with Wedge Antilles in it. Unfortunately, Denis Lawson is just too old at this point and I heard he doesn't want much to do with Star Wars anyways. Might be just a rumor.
Although it would be difficult to swing, a Rogue Squadron movie gives ample opportunity to bring the tons of Rebellion and squadron charecters we read about in booksto life, creating vast revenue and financial gain in the toy department.
Just imagine Corran Horn with his green X-Wing on the shelves at Target next to Wedge's.

I would take the opportunity if I were Disney.

Absolutely @Admiral Petty. Unfortunately the only way we'd ever get to do so is if he becames canon again, which I'm guessing will never happen. My guess is that they'll possibly make up a new charecter as sort of a hybrid Corran Horn and Kyle Katarn somehow if they decide to go this route.

 

Gotta love someone who talks about having bodily functions related to Wedge and/or X-Wing standalone movies! Totally agree by the way......Red Leader approves!!!!

 

Star Wars Rebels Season 3 had an episode about Wedge deflecting from the Empire. Having a recast of him in a movie is still a possibility and not that far fetched.

 

I would actually would love to see that kind of movie. We need one for between RoTJ and TFA anway and it’s a good idea.

 

I would love a movie like that, I don't think we need Corran though (might mess with new canon Luke's story) Re-cast wedge and make him main character and you have tons of material to pull from the eu, my favourite part of each movie is the fighter battles! And we could still have Janson, Hobbie and Tycho and maybe even Baron Fel as main bad dude
