Anyone know anything about this game? Every play it?

I'm curious about it, and would love to dig up and pore over those old books... But only if they were worth having so I could eventually play.

During the 90s the WEG game was one of the main sources for "new" Star Wars, and I devoured the books. Oddly, I only ever really played it a couple of times (it was hard finding roleplaying gamers where I was) but the books were entertaining just as reference works.

Almost all of them have at one time or another been scanned by hobbyists and there are slightly-dubious ways of getting them online if you want to take the risk and just get a sampling of them.

That's awesome to hear. There's something in the aesthetic of '80s-'90s RPG books I really love, and I think my interest was really piqued by the idea of merging that with all kind of SW backstory / sidestory / whatever.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

Man I wanted to play this so bad back then but no one in my RPG group would have it.. i even offered to buy the books if we could play it

    they -are- great reference
    ESPECIALLY the Galaxy Guides

if you look at the special edition of Star Wars as they enter Mos Eisley you'll see they added two crashed colony ships sticking up in the air and the city built around that. That originally was from the RPG. it also explained that the sandcrawlers were abandoned from the original settlement and mining operation.
    neat huh?

i would love to play a game in that system but only if the prequels were ignored and the original concepts were applied.
