You know, this is the strange thing. Jar Jar is actually a pivotal narrative mechanism used in setting up the character of the prequel Jedi. He is Qui Gon and Obi Wan's significant other. Think about it.

I can't imagine someone with as little tact as Jar Jar surviving for long in what is basically the Kings Landing of the Star Wars galaxy.

Why are STAR WARS fans still hung up over hating a character like Jar Jar Binks, whose worse trait is that he is clumsy? And after seventeen years? I've asked these question a few times in the past and no one wants to give a clear answer.

Is it possible that deep down, these fans fear that they might be a lot like him . . . more so than they care to admit?

I've noticed that movie fans seemed to want their major characters, especially the protagonists, to be somewhat or completely ideal, in order to identify with these so-called "special" characters and pretend that they are more than what they really are.

Jar Jar's fate explained. It's 100% canon because I insist so.

Actually, I find many of the Jar Jar jokes rather lame.

You sure, on twitter Rogue One has been buzzing of a appearance of him during Cassian & Jyn's exit of the hangar scene, that gungan is never forgotten.

    I enjoyed the first one.

Star Wars fans joined together in a class-action lawsuit against Lucasfilm for the pain and suffering caused by Jar Jar Binks. The judge ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, citing that no reasonable person should have to deal with the anguish and personal torment caused by his existence. Therefore, Lucasfilm was ordered to strip Jar Jar from canon, destroy all scenes of him in media and promotional materials, and compensate all victims of Jar Jar with surplus 1984 boxes of C3PO's cereal.

I think they missed an opportunity in Rogue One to handle Jar Jar's fate (and his death by extension in A New Hope, not in Aderaan) . Here's how I would have played this out:

The Empire had a weapons research facility that included bio-chemical ones. Some of their activities include testing new weapons on subjects and experimenting with living creatures. For security and PR reasons, the most advanced and controvesial experiental facilities had been moved to a location inside the Death Star.
Senator Binks is wrongly accused of supporting Rebels. "Wrongly", because honestly, he didn't have a clue. But because he is still an Imperial senator, he is
deceived and later kidnapped by imperial agents and sent to one of these research facilities, located in the Death Star. He is temporary held in cell 2188 (next to 2187, which was later used by Leia in ANH).
Jar Jar is tortured. However, his honest but poorly-spoken responses are taken as someone who is resisting the torture and not willing to cooperate. So, torture levels increase, and we see how that small, floating, black ball with a needle is used to torture the senator. During the procedure and due to one of Jar Jar's clumsy moves, the imperials do not realize they have overloaded the internal circuit of this torture device, and it will never be fixed as they don't know that it's not longer working. Call it luck or the will of the Force. This would be last heroic move of Jar Jar, but he wouldn't be aware of its consequences: days later, Vader will use this device to torture Leia and she will inexplicably resist the interrogation.
Since the imperial agents don't get what they wanted, Jar Jar is sent to the leading imperial weapon scientists, to perform bio-chemical testings with him. Being an aquatic creature, the experiments are done in giant bacta tank, where the imperials throw in the bio-chemicals for Jar Jar to consume against his will.
As a result of these tests, Jar Jar experiences mutations: his eyes merged into a single one, which starts swelling. His limbs transform into tentacles. He keeps his orange colour and is still able to move freely in water, but he looses the ability to speak, and cannot longer live outside water.
After taking notes of the results of the weapon tests, the scientist realized that the bacta tank is now too small Jar Jar's mutated body, which looks now like a giant squid. The imperial agents recommend killing the new creature for security reasons. However, the scientist recommend to keep it for further study and try to find a more suitable place to keep the creature.
Director Krennic finds out about the problem and as much as he dislikes the creature and is leaning towards eliminating him, finds a solution that keeps both sides satisfied: the Death Star's trash compactor. After this decision, Krennic leaves the Death Star to go to meet with Galen Erso.
After disposing the creature, the bio-chemical scientist compared Jar Jar's altered DNA and new body form with the Imperial Database, and found out that they resemble the DNA and body of another creature native of the planet Naboo: A carnivorous tentacled species known as Dianoga, already extinct, but the Databse confirmed that Gungans had evolved from Dianogas.

With this, we could infer that Jar Jar doesn't die in Rogue One, but dies in at the end of A New Hope, when the Death Star explodes.

I know Rogue One is already written, but there is still a small chance for the above to become true: Star Wars Rebels. What do you guys think?

I'm starting to think Binks is getting the Heath Ledger as Joker treatment.

To never be scene dead, alive or mentioned ever again. Look DF loves Binks but he isn't even on Rebels. A very childish show. Also I've scene no toys or merchandise of him since the Disney takeover.

I agree with this, a MASSIVE corporation is scared of producing merch of a character who is part of one of the biggest franchises of all time due to a bit of fan backlash? I highly doubt a few Jar Jar toys would result in a boycott of Episode VIII or any other films, stick him in Rebels, end his story, then the situation is resolved

They aren't worried about backlash, they are worried about people not spending money.
Jar Jar would be one of the lowest selling toys if featured in the next movies and would likely take people out of the movie experience.

I don't think there would be a massive backlash, but a small vocal one, while most just kind of ignore him but the movies would lose their shine.

Disney wasn't worried about making a female the main lead. And there was backlash about that. But, there's a big enough base to embrace Rey that it wouldn't matter. Jar Jar does not have this base.
