What are the odds that Rian Johnson's trilogy gets cancelled?

Fortunately for Rian Johnson the vast majority of the audience and critics loved the film. I can't wait to see what he does next in the GFFA.

I do find all the hyperbolic statements about this film funny based on RJ's line from Brothers Bloom.

Well, his film was the least annoying of the three so it makes sense that he'd be an exception.

I thought KK giving RJ a trilogy was a bit rash IMHO. I didn't care when KK and LFM said TLJ was so good, as a film fan I know I had to see the film myself before I drank the Kool aid, and now with all the backlash, I wonder if she is still sticking to this? I think if SOLO BOMBS which I don't think it will, there will be some huge changes going forward.

 

I can't say this enough... The "backlash" if you can call that is relatively tame. The film is a hit financially, with critics, and with most of the audience. All the hyperbolic over reaction is coming from a tiny vocal minority.

 

I knew instinctively when CT's indie film bombed with all its connotations that he would be cut from ep.9 and sure enough he was. RJ gets along with KK so I don't think he'll lose the trilogy but I'm not holding my breath and TLJ is financially successful.

 

I actually don't think CT's bomb was the issue. CT had a story that was approved. Fisher passing away completely changed the story and Lucasfilm/CT never could come together. They tried for six months with an additional writer before finally cutting ties.

 

Yeah. I know what you mean. Would be like calling the next movie "Episode IX: Rey Dies". But she lives.

That's what they said about the prequels. That the hate was coming from a small minority. Unfortunately, time hasn't been kind to the PT. It won't be kind to TLJ either.

 

This is simply wishful thinking. Those films were neither critically acclaimed or loved by audiences. Trying to compare the reaction to the two films is kind of ridiculous, because it's completely different.

Luke was The Last Jedi, but it doesn't mean he would be the last Jedi. Good grief.

 

Many SW fans passionately defended the PT at the time. Pointing out the amount of money it made was always a big deal to them. And people who didn't like it were labeled "fake" SW fans. The same thing is happening now with TLJ.

Was Luke the last Jedi? If so, then I guess ESB could've been called The Last Jedi too. Since only Yoda was a Jedi at that time. Correct?

It's not really clear what your point is here. It just seems like you're complaining for the sake to complain.
