What are the odds that Rian Johnson's trilogy gets cancelled?

It's pretty simple - when I heard the title "The Last Jedi" I perceived it as an end of the Jedi, the last one, no more... not that there is only 1 jedi left and he is the last one... right now.

It's exactly like "The Last Call" at a bar. One more and then there are no more purchases.

 

You said "Luke was The Last Jedi, but it doesn't mean he would be the last Jedi" as if that explains the inaccuracy of the title of the movie.

Was Luke the last Jedi? No. Did the Jedi end in this film? No. So please explain the word "last" in the title.

My question about Yoda and ESB is trying to figure out your point of view.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has earned $1.205 billion worldwide after less than a month of release. It will be one of the top 10 highest grossing films of all time. The Last Jedi box office results are the epitome of success, and there’s not another person alive Kathleen Kennedy trusts more than Rian Johnson to write and direct a new Star Wars trilogy.

 

Johnson will only write and direct the first one. But he will maybe write the 2nd and 3rd and definitely oversee production.

 

KK will eventually be fired, as will her successors. It comes with the territory of their job. KK and successors will take SW as far they and their teams can take it, when it becomes stagnant and loses money, their leadership will be reviewed and subsequently they'll get fired. It won't be so much based on their performance, but because by firing KK Disney can say SW is taking on a new and exciting direction and will likely come with the uptick in ticket sales.

 

This is really a bizarre line of thought. The Force Awakens crawl calls Luke "the Last Jedi." The Last Jedi is about Rey's meeting with the Last Jedi Luke Skywalker. The title isn't inaccurate. You jumped to an incorrect conclusion.

Dude, no. Don’t encourage people to bully RJ online until he breaks off his working relationship with Lucasfilm. That’s gross, childish behavior.

RJ’s trilogy will not be canceled. It would take something huge to change these plans.

Even if you disliked the treatment of Rey’s parents, or how Ben fell, or how Luke was handled, TLJ was still a legitimately well directed movie. I’m confident in RJ moving forward with something new and not so heavily tied to existing aspects of the franchise.

Again: there is no chance RJ’s trilogy is going to be canceled. We can close this thread now.

It's okay that some people don't like the film, but some of the people voicing their opinions seem unbalanced to me. Find some new hobbies. Thinking like this isn't healthy.

 

Could possibly start with one film and if it does well enough, there will be sequels. If not, it'll just end up being a stand alone film.

0% chance it's cancelled. Under normal circumstances it would be a movie and await the response, but this is Star Wars. If the prequels trilogy endured then so will this unamed trilogy. Imagine having free reign and resources to make an off shot of the Star Wars universe. Not something you pass on even if you catch a little shade on twitter.
