Had a sangria. Nothing better than a wine that tastes like a summer drink in your mouth. Nothing tastes better IMO.

So last night I opened up this great bottle of Chablis Premier Cru to have with the Sashimi.

    94225738-DDAC-4C6E-8BBC-881D902701C0.jpeg

I absolutely love Chablis & this is a fantastic example. Old vines ( 50 Year old) & a long time in large old oak barrels about 36 months. Most producers age there’s for between 12 - 18 months for there Premier Cru wines.

also I know you shouldn’t judge a wine by its label but damm is that a fantastic one I’m sure @Master_Farkaz would approve of it.

It's a beautiful label! ;) How was the wine itself?

So had these 4 fantastic wines over the weekend.

    32ED9E95-19B4-48DC-9A74-B4AB58A7AD15.jpeg

So from left to right we have a absolutely brilliant Sparkling wine from northern Italy it’s made in exactly the same way as champagne oh & it’s what they are using on the F1 Podium this year so we had this on the Sunday.
    AD54FC37-6810-4049-B6EE-C7B1E3B1B448.jpeg

The Muscadet I have had before & it’s still just as good as the last bottle I had last summer.
    F3D08088-B3E2-4122-BC4A-B9A6ED01C05E.jpeg

Next is another white from Etna this ones from a brand new winery ( It’s a collaboration between a established producer & GAJA one of the best producers of Barolo & Barberesco) this is there second vintage & while it’s good I preferred the last one.
    D8BBA260-E8AE-45A4-A468-5A36C6BFB866.jpeg

The Tolpuddle Chardonnay was also really good although it seems more oaky then last time so more like a Puligny-Montrachet or Meursault then a Chablis.

It's been a while since I had this one, so it was about time for a revisitation. :p

So I opened the 2nd & last bottle of this Barberesco.

    91CE86F1-292C-4DF3-B087-B83A34CC1E6F.jpeg

So things didn’t start well as the cork broke in half. :( So I had half a cork stuck in the bottle & & the rest wouldn’t come out . So after about 10 minutes of trying to remove it I gave up pushed the rest of the cork into the bottle then poured the rest through a sieve into a jug so at least that saved me decanting it.
Anyway onto the wine it’s probably just a little past it’s best however it’s still a really good wine if you like your wines dry & savoury rather then a fruit bomb. Ie it’s classic Barberesco.

So to toast in the New Year I decided to blend my own Whisky :).

This is a 50/50 roughly blend of Talisker 10 & Nikka from the Barrel ( Which is a blend to start with) & it turned out really & you can still pick up the individual whisky’s

I'm saluting the new year with a pretty decent M. Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes-du-Rhône 2020, red.

Now that's a bold experiment!

Had both of these at some point (the Nikka was a very pleasant surprise!), but I never thought of blending Whisk(e)y manually...
    I'm more of a 'Single Malt'-man myself anyway... ;)

well I only had about 5CL of the talisker 10 left so I thought why not add some Nikka to it :).
I have about 1/2 a bottle of the Hakushu 12 left& that is definitely staying unblended :D

my next purchase will probably be the Port Charlotte 10 so might add some of that to the blend.

Last night my friend and I decided to try MSG in chocolate milk. We put too much in and it went about as well as you'd expect. It tasted like a mixture of salt aftertaste and impotent garlic. It was like watching The Room in liquid form, where the flavors want one thing, but you get something else entirely out of it, and the experience is so bad that it's fascinating enough to try for a second time (or in our case, a second sip). But yeah, no, not doing that again.
