So I tried the blend again last night & it seems a lot more integrated also its much smoother & probably a bit more easy drinking however on the down side it’s lost quite a bit of the Talisker characteristics :(.
If I every repeat this blend I would definitely increase the amount of Talisker as the Nikka has definitely come to dominate the taste. Or I could try adding a different whisky say the Port Charlotte or if I was going for a money no object maybe some Octomore or a cask strength Lagavulin :D.

Very nice I don’t drink a lot of Speyside Whiskey but I tend to go for either Benromach or Glenfarclas.

Then you're missing out imho, there's some very fine whiskies from the Speyside! :)
Apart from the more obvious ones, there's a lot to enjoy.
The Balvenie has some of my all-time-favorites! The 17 year old DoubleWood, for instance, is particularly nice. :D

Haven't had those yet. Hang on... there's a GlenFarkaz??? Oh wait... never mind... :(

So this weekend’s wine is another fantastic Muscadet

    6A227074-D8C3-41C8-BCCF-C40F33C51AB9.jpeg

This is a fantastic example of a long lees aged Muscadet about 60 months on lees in the traditional glass lined tank ( so no wood involved at all) . At just over 7 years old this is still fresh & has that classic Muscadet acidity & freshness I had it with Chinese Duck but it would go fantastic with any seafood especially Sashimi or Oysters. Also it’s IMO so much better then most entry level Chablis & is easily a match for a premier Cru one at about a 1/3 of the price.

    Ok so this Weekend’s wine.

    2EA3C95E-9CC4-445B-A1F4-970ABD12B26C.jpeg

This is a really good Brunello Tuscany at 14 years it at its peak ( it will probably last another 5 years ) the oak is now well integrated & the tannins have really soften up but it still retains that Sangiovese freshness as even at 14% it doesn’t taste too heavy.

Had a few of these on my last trip(off a tap), very refreshing taste for an IPA.

So first up I finished of the Brunello from Thursday & it’s still drinking really well

    1E26D82C-296E-4318-B9CF-4AEA1121294A.jpeg

Then it was onto my new Whisky

    BDC1C7A3-B036-484B-B2BF-BBD46446331F.jpeg 18B6F3B7-EA4A-4325-B208-50F22F80D10C.jpeg

This is a heavily Peated Spayside ( although it’s right on the edge of the area so it also has some coastal influences) now I had a previous Peat Smoke which was Ex Bourbon cask where as this was aged for the full 9 years in Ex Sherry Cask plus it has a higher Peated level this time at 55PPM compared to the previous version at 40PPM Thos put it at the same peating as Ardbeg & higher then both Laphroaig & Lagavulin although it doesn’t tastes like it.
@Master_Farkaz if you can find a bottle of either & definitely recommend you give them a try as they offer something difrent from the normal Speyside style,

So this weekend’s wine is a very nice Riesling from Australia.

    6904CA2E-D99F-42C4-852D-6B87E2426AFE.jpeg

This was my final bottle :(. & it went fantastically with a nice Salmon En Croute as the it has enough acidity to cut through the pastry.
