    Last nights whisky

    20220305_224357.jpg 20220305_224630.jpg

so this is another Sherry Cask Matured Peated whisky this time from Islay ( This is a very new distillery as it was only founded in 2005 so this is some of its very early production also it one of only 7 distillery’s to have its own floor maltings plus it’s very different from the previous one the level of peating is about the same but this one tastes & smells much more Smokey.

    Looks very interesting!
Checked their website and I think that's the one I'd've chosen as well.

Let's see when this year's batch comes out and my financials will permit me to endulge... *ponders*

It should be out soon & if last years edition is anything to go by it should be around 10 years in a Sherry Cask.
I have 1 more bottle of the 2013 edition & one of the 2015 edition.

So this weekends whisky was another of my self blending experiments

First up was a measure of the Benromach
    52DFD748-4BD8-495E-A912-F62BE1F5B639.jpeg

Then a equal measure of the Kilchoman
    C57F4FB7-DAC0-46C4-A992-2584714E46A5.jpeg

so we end up with a absolutely Peated Sherry monster of a dram & it actually didn’t turn out to bad as the sweater Benromach helped to smooth out the younger & more intense Kilchoman ( Now personal I liked the Kilchoman’s full in peat intensity but it’s certainly a acquired taste &the Benromac is certainly an easier whisky to be introduced to a peaty style)

Sounds a bit crooked to me... :D
    --- Double Post Merged, May 3, 2022, Original Post Date: May 3, 2022 ---
To me Bourbon is not Whiskey!
Mostly because the spirit is primarily made from corn.

You can put Vodka in a barrel and let it mature on Oak for twenty years, that doesn't make it Whiskey! ;)

So this weekend’s wine was a rather nice German Pinot Nour.
    54F1F2AC-7938-4EB1-8BA9-5C06136D541C.jpeg
At about 4 1/2 years it’s probably at it’s peak but then it probably just as good as most entry level Burgundies ( & given the way those prices are going a LOT more affordable ).

I don't know if it's gotten a bad rep in recent times, but it's still one of my favorite light, summer beers!

This weekend wine is a lovely Provenance Rose with a rather famous Ex Hollywood Couple
    0FB07CB9-3E5A-44D3-AFD4-87E689BFC504.jpeg

At 3 years old is still got a lovely freshness to it proving that a top quality Rose can age & doesn’t have to be drunk straight away. Oh & I’m enjoying this while watch the Monaco GP Qualifying :)

Hmmm... there's either not much drinking going on these days, or people are enjoying themselves so much, they forget to share with the rest of us...

    I just opened this one.

    Nice, uncomplicated and smooth. :p

Alas, though I found a webshop that still has it in stock (almost everywhere else it's already sold out!), I'm afraid I'll have to wait for next year's batch... :(
Because my (so far) trusty old Corsa turned out to have changed into a crusty old Corsa in the past year (chassis-beams were pretty much gone, were last year they were still hard all over.) and therefor no longer passed it's Annual Technical Check, I was forced to spend my savings on a replacement. Though I got a pretty good deal on a newer Polo, it left me with too little financial leeway to justify an indulgence like this.... :(

Next year, my prrrecioussss... next year! ;)

Nothing right now, but hopefully in less than an hour I'll be enjoying some Thai Milk Boba Tea with a nice Poke Bowl.

Thanks! It was quite tasty. I ended up getting two boba teas, as the lady at my usual spot thought I may like Taro Milk Tea if I like the standard Milk Tea. I asked her if I'd like it and she was like "probably. You should try it!" And it was DELICIOUS! It was creamier than the standard Milk Tea but also slightly earthier and sweeter. I'll definitely get it again, but I need to save it for a dessert-style thing. Unfortunately, the Taro Milk Tea overshadowed the Thai Milk Tea, so only one drink at a time in my future!

    My latest wines

first up is this really good ETNA ROSA
    1D4D6986-65BF-43EA-9EA9-FCD98497ACA7.jpeg

Drunk over 3 nights it’s a lovely Italian red so it got a fair bit of acidity & to it & really needs food ( like most Italian reds which is how I like my reds.)also it was also much nicer on day 2 & 3 after it had time to open up & could easily last another 5 years.

My second wine was this 11 year old Zinfandel
    99722FD1-8359-4283-BFA4-97FDA4187DC1.jpeg

Now considering this is there entry level wine & it was about £10 when. I brought it about 7. years ago the forgot about it it really was much better then I expected plus it has mellowed out over time as young Zinfandel can be a bit sweet for my tastes also I had it with a nice Fillet steak which it works really well.

oh & I’m also on my summer whisky of the Hakushu 12 which I’m try to make last as long as possible as unfortunately most Japanese Whisky is now getting a bit ridiculous in terms of its price :(
