Ever since that hilarious episode of From The Earth To The Moon with Dave Foley as Al Bean and Peter Scolari as Pete Conrad it's been my favorite of the moon missions. The sort of laid-back atmosphere of the mission and crew (compared to others at least), the lightning strike on liftoff and Bean screwing everything up from accidentally destroying the camera to losing the timer for their photograph prank... it's all pretty fun. I've never read any books about the Apollo program though, I think the only book I've read about actual real-life space flight was The Right Stuff which only covered the first group of Mercury astronauts. So it's pretty nice to read in depth about one of the moon missions although I've seen plenty of documentaries and dramatizations.

Now that was a very enjoyable read the characters were IMO very well written even Leia & Chewie who aren’t major players in the nove are well thought out.

I just finished The Phantom Menace novel and loved it. It makes the story so much more enjoyable. Right now I'm reading the Attack of the Clone novel. I'm planning on reading all the canon Star Wars timeline in novels and comics. My list is:

    - The Phantom Menace
    - Attack of the Clones
    - Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel
    - Dark Disciple
    - Son of Dathomir
    - Kanan: The Last Padawan
    - Kanan: First Blood
    - Revenge of the Sith
    - Darth Vader: Imperial Machine
    - Darth Vader: Legacy's End
    - Ahsoka
    - Lords of the Sith
    - Tarkin
    - Rogue One
    - A New Hope
    - Empire Strikes Back
    - Return of the Jedi
    - The Force Awakens
    - The Last Jedi

Any novels or comics I should add?

That’s a great reading list you have there & yes the noves of the PT films add a lot to the film

I would recommend Thrawn & Last Shot as both a very good Inferno Squad & Phasma not so much there ok but nothing special. Oh & Thrawn Legacy is out in July so that will be worth getting if you like the first Thrawn novel.

I am currently reading a flyer for a new local Indian restaraunt which I shall never visit, because ironically I hate Asian food.

I've been thinking of adding Thrawn to my reading list. I'll be sure to add it. As for Long Shot, when is it set? Before the Solo movie?

I went to Barnes & Noble to pick up "Last Shot" but found something else to read as well...

I enjoyed the book about Apollo 12 so much I was on the lookout for another NASA book while I was there. I was thinking about Gene Cernan's "Last Man On The Moon" but they didn't have it, they did have some copies of this book at only $7.98 for the hardcover. I was told they're trying to get rid of them because the paperback comes out May 1st, as a result they're selling the hardcover for cheaper than the paperback will be selling for next week. So if you have any interest in this book head to B&N and get the hardcover for less than burger combo, even cheaper than Amazon which has it going for $20, and cheaper than you'll pay for the paperback. I'm excited to read it because I don't know all that much about Apollo 8 except the broad strokes. I know they orbited the moon, Lovell was there, it was Borman's last flight and he puked halfway to the moon (according to Lovell in Apollo 13 at least) etc. It didn't get a movie and the From The Earth To The Moon episode mainly focused on the political/social upheaval of 1968 than the mission itself. So it should be cool to read, especially since I don't know all that much about Borman either. I know he was considered one of the best and probably would have been the first man on the moon had he not decided he was a test pilot rather than explorer/scientist and left NASA.

Dune: Messiah. I've been a huge fan of the Dune series since high school. I've actually read the original Dune so much that the cover page actually came off and I had to buy a new copy.

The first one is the only I ever read and it's been close to 20 years. I enjoyed it but not enough to read the rest, I was much younger/dumber back then though and I suspect I'd really enjoy them now. I'll probably get around to reading them all one day.

11/22/63 by Stephen King. Decided to switch into translated version after reading a few of his novels - much use of translator...

I loved that book. As somebody who has had many horrible experiences in Dallas (honestly, nothing good happens in Dallas) I particularly enjoyed the Derry/Dallas comparison and the idea that it's just a bad city with a bad vibe. I suspect King made a research trip here and left as unimpressed as I usually am. It has some problems though, it's one of those books where the characters just screws up at every turn and you can see the consequences coming long before they do. And Jake would have saved himself a lot of trouble if he'd paid more attention to Back To The Future.

Drawing of the Three by Stephen King. The first one was a pain to read, but I endured. The second should be easier, but so far it's more of the same.
The Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo.
I also sometimes read Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance.

If by the end of the second you're still hating it you might think about writing off that franchise. Obviously people have differing opinions on which books are the best and whether the series gets better or worse as it goes along, but if you're not on board with the concept/execution after the first two books I don't think there's anything on the horizon that's going to make you do a 180. And while it looks like you're pretty well on the way to the tower with 2 of 7 books down (not including The Wind Through The Keyhole and the various other books that should be read with it), because the first two books are the shortest you've actually barely gotten started. The last book is about 4X as long as the first book.
