This poll is for people who are on the fence or not excited about Ep. 9. I plan to see it but I'm just not feeling the excitement for it.

This could easily change as more real/confirmed is information comes out about the film. What are some things that could make you go from "meh" ….to "CAN'T WAIT"!

Note: I had the same feelings about Solo when I first heard about it. Was pumped after seeing the trailer...and loved the friggin movie. So who knows what could happen between now and December 2019.

Definitely a good trailer and a bit of an appeal to nostalgia.

I do appreciate the continued worldbuilding that the ST has done and their attempts at trying to not rely too hard on nostalgia (Which, frankly, is pretty admirable) but Star Wars has a vast history of beloved canon creatures, planets, and characters.

It's okay to use them sometimes.

Just as a prototype (I'm sure the dialogue will come off as super cheesey), and because I"m super bored right now, I've mocked up a rough draft of what a potentially good trailer (for what would already assumedly be a good and interesting movie) would be. Mix in some nostalgia, some new stuff, and enough surprises to actually draw in an audience. Don't give away everything, but it's okay to spoil stuff a little bit to excite your audience. For instance, I've included the line "battle droids marching" in this rough trailer choreography. Might be a bit of a spoiler, but it doesn't give the context of the sequence, nor who they're fighting for, so really their inclusion raises far more questions than it answers.

Basically, get fans excited. A big problem I had with The Last Jedi's initial trailer is that it just didn't seem to really show anything we didn't already know. Rey is on Ach-to, Finn is unconscious, the Resistance is fighting the First Order... it all seemed pretty straight forward. Even the attempt at a twist (Luke wanting the Jedi to end) didn't really seem like a surprise to me, given I kinda figured that based on context clues in TFA.

Anyway, just to show how effective something like this could be (and hopefully someone feels the same way), I mocked up this:

That's brilliant. Reading increased my enthusiasm by +5 points!

The Lando bit at the end is great. That would make me happy.

Now if it was LUKE who appeared at the end....

I don't really get excited about anything until there's some kind of, visceral(?) stimuli. A proverbial "taste". Head knowledge just doesn't usually do it for me, no matter the subject. So, a trailer could work. Or even a picture. But even in terms of those it would have to connect with me. Some kind of a taste that made my eyes twinkle. Solo for instance I wasn't too excited about until the final trailer. The first trailer was just, a little, didn't make my tastebuds pop. The last trailer did. That one connected with me and punched the right buttons. Probably because it was very active with a lot of cool shots well-timed to the music.

A picture, something of Rey, like Rey with a green lightsaber. Something that kind of, tweaked the information a bit. Though now that I think about it, specific phrases can have an effect on me. If a trailer says something like "Mind-bending" I'm usually like, "Mind-bending? Have to see that." "Changes everything you thought you knew" is a good one. "Prepare yourself"

So I guess putting it all together, a trailer with a lot of activity, timed to some good Star Wars music, space battles, lasers flying everywhere, "Prepare yourself" ground movement, lightsaber "For the mind-bending conclusion" more action, cool planet shot, "That will change everything" roaring TIE fighters and X-Wings, "You thought you knew" action, force ability, close with Rey igniting a green saber. That would be the way to do it.

I kinda take a different angle at Episode 9 then many fans. For me it’s all about the overall arc/theme of the Trilogy and how well it will eventually sit next to the OT/PT. I like TFA and TLJ, but more as their own entity because right now they don’t jive well in a narrative sense with 1-6 as they feel more like an epilogue.

So to answer the question, there is no rumor, trailer or returning OT character that will move the needle with me as it’s all about the big picture at this point and will the 1-9 story work for me when it’s all said and done? Part of me doesn’t believe JJ can stick the landing because the more I read, the more it looks like they never had a big picture plan. JJ and RJ seemed to do their own thing and that’s probably why I enjoy the films in their own context, but not as a Trilogy yet.....

If you can add positive spoilers from like minded fans who seen it, that would be mine.

Right now I'm looking forward for whatever comes after EPIX. I've never been as low on SW as I am now. I'm hoping after IX comes out, the focus will move to other trilogies and I could get excited about those. I would watch an RJ trilogy, but only after a couple weeks in after I've read some spoilers.

I liked the Force Awakens, even if it was a bit too much like A New Hope. What really has me worried about IX is that, after The Last Jedi it's obvious there is no plan, no direction. They are making this up as they go.

So what would get me excited? Probably nothing. I'll go see it, as I've seen every thing so why not this one? Will I go opening weekend? Probably not. The one good thing is that JJ has a co-writter. Johnson really could have used a co-writter. So I guess the only hope is that the trailers make me feel like IX is must see viewing.

You know what, just give me a good story, set pieces to rival Empire or Return of the jedi, space battles to equal those movies and have Rey lose a hand in a duel with Kylo and the knights of Ren early on, then I’m game. Oh, and Lando flying the falcon with Chewie!

The movie is 1,5 year away, it hasn't even started shooting yet and nobody knows what it's about. So there is nothing to be excited about, as well as no need to be concerned with your lack of excitement. Let's wait for a trailer, or at least some viable information. Heck, I liked everything Disney made so far and yet I still don't care about Episode IX at the moment, because a lot is going to happen until even a teaser comes out, not to mention the movie itself.

First of all a good marketing. I think JJ and his team will go the "The Saga comes to an end" route. The first teaser could feature all eight main movies and so it will be build up to EPIX.

The KOR need to be in IX to make me more interested in IX!

I like this alot. Especially Kylo's yellow eyes. It reminds me of the Anakin shot of the ROTS trailer.

I don't think Kylo will have a new helmet btw. It would ruin his character development from TLJ.

Sorry to be pessimistic but I dread 2 c what happens next. Are they gonna bring in Lando just to kill him off?

Lando: "Ben come in. This is your old Uncle Lando! I have come to negotiate on behalf of the.......

Allow Finn and Poe to be a part of the main narrative.

Splitting Episode IX into two parts would probably do.

oh please no. Round out this trilogy for those who love it, that 's fine. But please don't make me have to wait longer for more SW that I can enjoy. Finish it and let it die. If they do decide to go this route, I hope the rumors are true and Iger fires people and kills it because he has to. lol

I'm only for the splitting if there is an episode X and not an episode IX part 1 and part 2. This part splitting has never worked for anything. It only made it worse. If you need more screentime, then make a second full movie.

I don't want to see anyone get fired, just to make that clear.

I hope they make IX and move on to something new.

However, if Iger hears that the plan is to make IX into IX and X, I would hope he lays down the law and says no. I hope he makes it abundantly clear that if they defy him and go this route, jobs will be lost. It is not something that is on the table for compromise. Again, I hope no one loses their job, unless they seal their own fate.

Whoever would get fired would be whoever would defy Iger and essentially the will of Disney, so it would start at the top (so if you need a name, that's KK, then JJ and on down. In the end, I expect KK can impress upon JJ to not split this into 2 movies, so she'd ultimately be responsible). I don't have an issue with people loving the ST, just as I have no issue with those who love the PT. I'm not a fan of either. But for the sake of ending the divisiveness in the SW community, and selfishly wanting to enjoy a new SW movie again, this trilogy really needs to end and they need to start something new that all fans can enjoy. No more expectations on old characters. Just another good original new story set in the GFFA.

I already can't wait for IX! For as much as people talk about how great ESB is (and it is!), it was ROTJ that brought the whole OT together and made it the story of family and redemption. I really want to see how JJ brings the ST together and wraps it up.
