What could make you more interested in Ep.9?

An interesting story. I have little interest because not much was set up for it from TLJ. It would have to have something grand and dramatic as the main thrust of the plot, because as it stands, the trilogy is leading to a soap opera between Rey and Ren, and that's not super interesting.

 

It would need to have two movies' worth of character development, world-building, and unique scenarios that, honestly, I don't feel someone as endemically-uncreative as J.J. Abrams is capable of providing.

 

I want this. Something that allows Rey, Finn, and Poe time to connect instead of being intentionally pulled apart to focus on Kylo's issues.

 

One word. Payoffs! I want JJ to deliver on setups like "A good question, for another time" to make the ST feel like an actual trilogy rather than a bunch of loosely connected filler episodes. I want scenes like the forceback vision to be meaningful to the overall trilogy rather than just a fancy special effects scene that could be cut without any consequences to the overall narrative. A trilogy should not be carried purely by the protagonists character developement. If RJ's motto for TLJ was "bet you didn't see that coming" I hope JJ's motto for IX will be "here's why we did X in previous movies".

 

I wonder if this isn't the trilogy we think it is.

Perhaps it's not the final trilogy of the saga at all, but rather the first trilogy of an all new saga, one which sets up Kylo Ren as the new villain

So the first saga - let's call it the Lucas saga - ended with ROTJ.

This is maybe the start of the Disney saga, with many more episodes to come, featuring the adventures of Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose and the resistance as they fight against the tyranny and oppression of Supreme Leader Ren and his Evil First Order.

 

Just have KK run the business end of LFL. Put DF in charge of the Story Group.

Problem solved.

 

How 'bout every option?

Ok, my level of interest is on an all-time low.

First of all, I want Luke back. I don't care if he's a Force ghost or alive, I want him back and with a nice amount of screen-time.

Next, Obi and Anakin. Both. If there's any hope that this trilogy won't be disjointed, bring them back.

Next, Lando with a reasonable amount of screen-time.

Next, something else from the originals. I want a story new and different, no more carbon-copies, but we haven't seen any of the original aliens or planets in this trilogy. Are we serious? It's not nostalgia, it's common sense.

Finally, I want more Poe and I want more Finn&Poe. You better give Finn something interesting to do.

In this f****** trilogy there's like 2 seconds of conversation between Poe and Rey. 20 minutes of Rey and Finn. 2 minutes of Finn and Poe. Not a single scene with the three of them besides the ending.

FIX THAT.

Good trailers are a given. They already needed to unite the fandom and after Solo, it's do or die. So...

 

Epidode 9 is supposed to tie up the 3 trilogies yet its being directed by a man who "strongly dislikes" the prequels.

If Anakin comes back will get CGI Sebastian Shaw or "Ghost Vader".

 

I think the main thing that would get me more interested in IX, would be if they offered me a part as an extra in the film

 

I am not at the point where I’m over-the-top excited for the film. We still have a year and a half wait, and there are other projects (which I find even more exciting) coming earlier than December 2019, such as Resistance and the live action show.
The current news/rumors: Lando’s Return and a familiar filming location doesn’t scream out “wow, that’s different!” Sure, I’m excited, but I was expecting both bits of news.
On this page’s poll, I clicked on “new characters.” That’s what will get me more excited about this film. The “new-ness” of it all. (That explains why I’m one of the few who thought the Canto Byte sequence was the best part of TLJ.)

 

He may dislike the PT, but he still used the PT in his first movie (TFA).

They will definitely use Hayden for the force ghost of Anakin Skywalker, but "Ghost Vader" could be cool too.

 

TLJ was so end of, its hard to speculate what direction IX will go. Rumours are so scarce I have wandered on to the racist, scumiest hell hole known as reddit. My word the trash they speak about on there makes me feel depressed. Am not sure what to grasp and hope for. I have yet to read a decent hook. I think most of that is due to the Leia situation. I guess I was looking forward to 'her' film.

I really hope Rey gets a new lightsaber. Maybe Lando on the Falcon again. Although I worry for his out come. More space battles maybe. More details of the resistance and less force bonding. That would be a great start.

 

I wish I could jump on board this idea. In my mind, there is absolutely no plan. RJ himself said there he wasn't reined in or told "hey you can't do this" and that, to me, is kind of frightening. If there was a plan, then surely there would have been some stuff that he'd have been told not to do.

Amen!!!! Actually I'd pink slip everyone else on the story group EXCEPT Dave and have him bring in people who 1. can write, 2. know Star Wars and 3. know script writing.

I'm not sure that's totally fair. I had major issues with the PT. I loved the story ideas, but the execution was lacking. The directing of the actors was just horrid. The only thing I really would retcon out would be the midicholorians. The force was and should be mystical. It's religion not science. Or at least that's my thought.

Having said that, there are a ton of things they could refer back to from the PT and the OT. Thankfully JJ has a co-writer who is not named Kasdan. I'm not so enamored with Lawrence Kasdan anymore, and his son is an idiot, in my opinion.

Personally I'd love to see Ahsoka in this film. I really love her. What an awesome character. That would certainly get me interested again. Another thing, just ignore VIII. Bring Luke back. TOTALLY and completely ignore the stupid "they can track through hyperspace" garbage. No more of that please. And give us characters that have some depth. I'd say they need to fix Rey but I think its too late for that now.
