Who would you realistically choose? No fantasies like Spielberg or James Cameron.
And the director can't have anything else already booked for 2019 (when they'd be filming for this)

Rian Johnson usually has 3 years between films and he has nothing else scheduled between 2018 and 2020. Hhhhmmm.

Maybe someone should ask him at Celebration would he be interested in doing another Star Wars film.

Jon Favreau would be interesting. I liked what he did with Ironman, and i heard Junglebook was good.
But it also depends on what kind of story the movie is going to tell.

My number 1 pick would be Neill Blomkamp. Dave Filoni would also be interesting. But it really depends on the topic/story of the movie.

Christopher Nolan, Ryan Coogler (seeing Michael B Jordan in the Star Wars universe as an added bonus would be epic too), or Zack Synder (I think his fight scenes could be epic), or the Russo Brothers.

A big NO to Zack Snyder, I don't need him ruining any more franchises with his pre-pubescent sensibilities. Russo Brothers could be excellent, though.

While I can't defend Watchmen or Sucker Punch since I haven't seen those (and honestly I wasn't a giant fan of the Watchmen comic; it felt a little overrated when I read it, but maybe visiting it again will make me feel differently), I actually really enjoyed Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition (the theatrical version wasn't bad, but it was the sum of it's parts IMO - nothing more, nothing less). And Man of Steel is one of my favorite superhero movies of all time (the score by Hans Zimmer helped out a lot though).

I think the problem for Snyder and Star Wars comes in two parts: script and placement. As long as he's not part of writing the script or story, I'm actually fine with him directing. As for placement. I think Snyder would actually work best in a KOTOR-like story. The best part about his interpretation on the DC movies is how operatic they are. He paints these heroes as Greek gods come to life (and then asks questions about it). I think this could work great in context. Have him show the Jedi of the past in all the glory we want them to see, and then have them fall under the heel of the Republic. Then, you're viewing the rest of the story (mainly the PT and to some extent the OT) as a consequence of that action. Showing them as legends could really help paint how far the Jedi have decayed by the time of the PT, and I don't think many directors could pull that off in such an operatic way.

Lol! Given their current track record, it's only a matter of time (or maybe they'll combine Star Wars and their TV experience and be the first to do a live-action Star Wars show).

Maybe if they decide to do that Knights of Ren movie, JJ Abrams can come back to direct it.

I think an Obi-Wan Film directed by Christopher Nolan could be very interesting. You just know he'd make it very intriguing with Kenobi's experiences...

An exert from Wiki: "Nolan's films are rooted in philosophical, sociological and ethical concepts, exploring human morality, the construction of time, and the malleable nature of memory and personal identity."

    Yes please.

Plus Christopher Nolan was initially heavily inspired by the original Star Wars.

I know allot of people hate Zack Snyder, yet he totally did a good job on the watchman. as a comic book fan he did a great job. I would love to see him do a standalone.

Yeah, I'm not sold on that idea. While District 9 was good, his other two films have been disappointing to say the least.
