the prequels are probably my favorite of the complete saga. but the best thing about the prequels to my opinion are probably the badass characters like general grievous. he's just some robotic, four-armed, lightsaber wielding monster. or the epic battles when you see two different colours from lightsabers clash against each other. if they overdid star wars IV, V and VI, and improve their battles, it could be much better.

Lucas has a knack for creating great villains (Maul, Aurra Sing, Ventress). Grievous concept design was great. The Tartakovsky cartoon made Grievous, to me, more formidable then Vader. I guess thats why Lucas toned him down and added that annoying cough in ROTS.

Awesome saber fights, beautiful scores, Ewan McGregor, Obi-Wan on XBOX and Episode I Racer on N64... that's the main stuff off the top of my head.

What I like about the Prequels.....
    1) First is they were Star Wars movies and I love anything just about Star Wars.
    2) To see the story told, anything before the original movies had to be made up in my head or read in a book or comic, this was live action.
    3) New places, got to see visuals of planets and places mentioned in the originals.
    4) New characters, characters we knew about but have never seen came to life on the big screen.
    5) Storyline of how Darth Vader was created and why. Also the friendship between Obi Wan and Anakin, and the relationship between Anakin and Padme.
    6) Jedi vs Sith, some of the light saber fights were awesome and I love saber duals.
    7) How the clones were created and would become the stormtroopers. The creation of the Grand Army that would become the Imperial army and fleet.
    8) How the Jedi order was destroyed.
    9) The visual of the Jedi Temple, that alone was one the best parts for me.
I could keep going but I didn't let special effects or character dialogue or anything like that bother me much, I enjoyed the visual story told.

I love that the Prequel Trilogy challenged the public's perception on the moral nature of the Jedi and the Galactic Republic. I love how it challenged the assumption that Palpatine and especially Vader would be directly responsible for the downfall of the Jedi and the Republic, without the latter's actions contributing to their fates.

Overall, how it expanded the Star Wars universe. Qui-Gon-Jinn and all the Jedi Council scenes.

Honestly there was much to love with these movies. There was also just as many cringe worthy moments. Qui Gon explaining the MIdichlorians to me was one of the worst scenes in all three movies. But to this day, more than a few times a year, I start at EP1 and run all the way through.

Us older folks who grew up with Star Wars as the OT was released have a slightly different view than the younger crowd I think. When we were kids, there was nothing like Star Wars. The closest thing we had was Star Trek and Buck Rogers. Once EPV hit the big screen, everyone started making their own version of Star Wars. The OT has influenced so many other movies and been ingrained in the psyche of most all sci fi. Because of this, when the PT came out, it didnt have the same "nothing like it before" feeling, at least not to me. BUT it did still feel like Star Wars...just from a certain point of view (obi-wan 4) ;)

Not quite. I saw the OT as a kid years before I first saw the PT when it first hit the theaters. Don't get me wrong. I love the OT. But I love the PT just as much.

I completely respect that. That's the beauty of Star Wars. Each fan is touched in their own way. :)

This reminds me...I think the issue, both when the prequels came out and now during the sequel trilogy, is that fans get it so built up in their minds that the continuation of the story has to work in a narrow, particular way. People had their own ideas for 16 years about what the PT was going to be, and the final PT dashed those hopes for many of them. Now, people have had their own ideas of what the ST would be since 1983, and, surprise! The movies are going another direction. Even the actors aren't immune to this, as Mark Hamill has admitted that he didn't like what was being done with Luke at first. And Hayden Christensen apparently wanted to channel more Vader from the beginning, which Lucas didn't want yet. And all of those may be valid criticisms, but either way, the point remains: these movies, once they're made, will rarely adhere to what audiences have been expecting.

Now, back on topic: I love, love, love the world-building in the prequels. Coruscant especially. I truly hope that planet shows up in future films. Kamino is also really inventive. The music is also consistently great and moved the franchise in new, sometimes eerie directions. Ian McDiarmid and Ewan McGregor were real highlights as well.

Yes, I saw Star Wars when it first came out, so when the PT came out I was much older and grew up on the OT. Still the PT did give info and I have an open mind so I made the best of it. Sure it wasn't perfect for the older Star Wars fans but I won't hate on it. I guess I'm the type of person that just make the best with what I have.

I love the prequels. Even though episode 2 makes me cringe, I will still watch it with a smile on my face because it is Star Wars

This....It was great to see a younger Obi Wan and what he was about. In the OT he was a old man so we get to see just how good he was as a younger man in the PT. To me it made the dual in the Death Star more understandable of why Vader would use caution against him by seeing the younger version and his abilities as a duelist. Not to mention that Obi Wan defeated him and how he left him.

Best part of the PT for me though has to be the assembly of Vader, then the table rise and see Vader in his suit and his first words spoken. Could have done with out the NOOOOOOOOOO ha ha but everything else like the destruction of the medical droids and stuff, that was just awesome in my opinion.
