    I wasn't a huge fan.

I watched TPM in the theater. I didn't like it. At all... In fact, I didn't even go see AOTC in the theater as a result. When I watched AOTC a few months after it went to DVD, I wasn't impressed. It wasn't as bad as TPM, but it wasn't as good as any of the OT movies. As a result of those two experiences, I didn't watch ROTS at all until just recently.

When VII came out, my daughter wanted to go see it, but first, she wanted to watch the first 6, start to finish. So, I borrowed all 6 of them, and we sat down and watched them. Watching TPM and AOTC now, having taken a number of years off from even thinking about them, they weren't so bad. In fact, I rather enjoyed them. Sure, the acting wasn't knock-your-socks-off amazing, and the CGI got a bit out of hand, but they were good. I really liked ROTS, which like I said, I hadn't even seen before.

The biggest thing was that my daughter enjoyed it, and I guess I gained a bit better appreciation for the PT, even if they were a touch sub-par in my opinion.

    EDIT:

Ok, I forgot to mention WHAT I like about the PT...

I really enjoyed the story/plot in general, and the inclusion of more Jedi. The OT were some of my favorite movies to watch when I was little. Just getting some of the back-story to the movies that were such a big part of my movie experience growing up kind of tied it together. Granted, I didn't gain this appreciation until recently, but I think that's my favorite part about them. It's enough to put some of the acting aside, put the poorly implimented CGI aside, and view it as the story.

In addition to that, I think (as Mosley says above) costume design was great, and the sabre battles were fun to watch.

The action and the story in general mostly, also the fact that we got to see more exotic species like on the Jedi council. I don't know why but I like the CIS when it comes to enemies, vulture droids, droidekas, super battle droids. I also like some of the music in it.

Some of the ships were really cool too, I love the Venator class Star Destroyer and those starfighters the Jedi used, ARC fighters. You name it, they have some cool weapons. I'm pretty open-minded as I grew up with watching the prequels as they were made after I saw the original trilogy.

Couruscant and Naboo are my favourite planets in the SW universe.

Whenever I see the Jedi council I wish that more than just three of them talked, even though many of them got their expanded roles in TCW, still. lots of new species and I have a weakness for aliens. Proves that the SW universe has a lot of diversity.

What do I like about the prequels? The setting. I personally do not care for the presentation in the movies, but there is just so much more to it than that trilogy. First and foremost, The Clone Wars (TV series.) The characters in the prequels were fleshed out, minor characters were given personality (cough cough Plo Koon cough cough), and Anakin was portrayed as how he was supposed to be. The redeemer of the prequels. I love the political area of the Republic. Couruscant, Mandelore, the Republic, the (real) Jedi Order, all of it. So much depth that simply wasn't explored in the OT. So many stories told beyond the streamlined movies.

And it makes the setting in the OT all the more bitter. All of that came crashing down. That is why I like the prequels, the tragedy of it all.

Yep the prequels had the best individual scores but the ot had more thematic elements that meteorites each other better than the prequels .

    Palpatine
He worked as a sort of Hitler parable: inventing an enemy to scare the citizenry into granting him more and more power until there was no turning back. He didn’t conquer the Old Republic with an army, or seize control with a coup. He manipulated the system from within until it was handed to him. Playing on peoples’ natural fears and need for security, he got everyone to trade away their liberty for a false sense of safety. It makes him the darkest kind of villain in my mind.

    Jedi
We all knew the Jedi order was a failed system. We just didn’t know why. Portraying them as an arrogant society that was more concerned with rules than people was smart. Their strict ideas of nonattachment and emotional control were ways of avoiding the ‘dark side’. Ultimately, this left them blind to half of the force and vulnerable to Sith plots. They considered ‘balance’ to be all ‘light’ and no ‘dark’, which is flawed logic. It was only a matter of time for someone to take advantage of that myopia.

I don’t think either of these concepts were particularly well executed in the movies, but the ideas themselves are brilliant in my opinion.

The thing I love most about the PT, is that everything looks so much more colourful & fantasy like, compared to the OT. However, It annoy's me when people say things like ''Too much CGI in the PT makes it all look to unrealistic compared to the realistic practical effects in the OT''. Its like well durr, because Star Wars isn't meant to look REALISTIC.. Its a fantasy universe that is suppose to make you forget the realistic real world.. Lol.

I realized yesterday while watching ROTS last night hat the Jedi high council chamber was just one of MANY a chambers and the chamber's exterior design looks very familiar to the emepror's throne room in The OT ...

The nostalgia. I was 11 when TPM hit. So i was to young to bother about CGI or stupid long-eared characters. To me it was really cool!
Guess that feeling somehow is stuck deep enough inside me to enjoy the movies. I guess the same nostalgia feeling is stuck in the generation who saw the OT when they were 11, and thats why there cant be another real starwars movie to them. But thats another discussion...

100% agree. TPM is actually my favourite film of all 7. Not just because I grew up with it but because it was a more lighthearted story that introduced mainly all the entire crucial character's that would ultimately have an impact on the saga and Anakin Skywalker's story. :)
