    1. The Battle Droids (Until they added the stupid slapstick and cartoon voices in Revenge of The Sith)
    2. The Villians (Darth Maul, Count Dooku, General Grevious). I found these to be incredible villians, great characters, and with great actors.
    3. Naboo and the story of it being invaded. I just wish we got to know the people of Naboo better, like the Queen, her maidens, the struggles. But, we don't even see their citizens.
    4. The Lightsaber fights (sue me)
    5. Jango Fett is infinitely cooler than Boba Fett in every way possible.
    6. Yoda with a lightsaber (sue me again)
    7. Mace Windu is a badass when he is fighting The Emperor (which is my favorite Lightsaber Duel ever)
    8. Nute Gunray and the nemoidians (Super sue me)
    9. Qui-Gon Jinn (I love this character because he's supposed to be a wise jedi, but he shamelessly abuses his power and thinks he's bright when he's not.)
    10. The Phantom Menace minus Obi-Wan, Anakin, Jar-Jar, Coruscant, and the scenes cut from the anti-cheese edit.

The only things I'd change with the prequels would be to shave down the politics, or at least make them easier to understand (although i was a child when i saw the prequels and never paid attention to the politics) and to brush up some of the CGI. otherwise... I enjoy those films. Phantom menace is definitely my least favorite, mostly in terms of pacing , but I find that it has a lot of redeeming qualities in it (Darth Maul, all the Tatooine sequences, Naboo is visually stunning, costumes are great, Qui-gon/Obi-Wan relationship). the only things that take me out of the prequels are Dex's diner scene in Attack of the Clones and the trade federation droids vs. gungans in Phantom Menace. I'm in an interesting position in that I grew up on both the OT and the PT concurrently. I watched the OT repeatedly on VHS and I grew up seeing the prequels in theaters numerous times, playing with the figurines, watching the trailers on tv, etc. So it's all Star Wars to me.. anyone else in the same boat?

Wait wait wait, there are people who think sci-fi should be otherwise? Oh and I kinda think the settings of the prequels are a bit more imaginative than the ones in the OT tbh fam. That might be because CGI allowed for more possibilities but nonetheless.

Yes, absolutely. I also saw the episodes in chronological order, strangely enough.

Honestly, as an OT fan (that saw ANH in theaters) I loved the fact that we got the story of Anakin. You all have to understand that in the late 70's and early 80's, there were rumors in magazines like Starlog and others about the origins of Darth Vader....before we knew he was Luke's father.

The most re-told story is that he either fell or was thrown into a volcano and had possibly been a Jedi before he became Vader. Those stories swirled for years when I was a teenager......and it was brought to life, and we GOT TO SEE the real story.....in living color...on the screen....and we didn't have to imagine it any longer. That's why I'm primarily thankful for the prequels.

Now, the secondary reason that I'm thankful for the prequels (yes, despite any of their perceived flaws) is that we got to see the end of the golden age of the Republic and the Jedi. I think it brought to us a larger understanding of the culture and potential size of the Jedi Order....and it's shortcomings. For this also I am thankful to the prequels.

I actually feel bad for those that will outrightly, and without thought, disparage and disrespect the prequels because of "how the movie was made" (because they're professional critics and film makers and are experts on the subject) instead of what the story gave them....can't see the forest through the trees.

    I love the Prequel Trilogy.

For me, it expanded the Star Wars universe in countless ways and offered new insight into the Jedi Order, Anakin's rise and fall, Luke and Leia's mother, what the Republic was like before the Empire, what Ben Kenobi was like when he was better known as Obi-Wan, how Palpatine rose to power, and so much more.

The planets, the ships, the costumes, the music, pod racers, the Prophecy, Coruscant, Jango and Boba Fett, Mace Windu, more Yoda. Qui-Gon Jinn was an especially brilliant addition and a wonderful counterpoint to the Jedi, I thought.

My views have evolved over time. I appreciate the political back-story more these days than when I was younger, as I now believe it gives Star Wars an extra dimension of realism and complexity that makes what happens in the Original Trilogy even more dire and significant.

The Original Trilogy felt more "planetary" in parts while the Prequel Triology actually helped me better envision and appreciate Star Wars, in terms of the scale of storytelling, along a more "galactic" sense.

Both the Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy enrich each other, in my experience. Having watched all the films in Episode order again before The Force Awakens, I appreciated the flow and crescendo of cause and effect throughout the tale to the very end on Endor.

So, I'm grateful the Prequel Trilogy exists, and I hope we will be given more canonical opportunities to explore the Star Wars past, perhaps going back to the founding of the Jedi and the Sith and then even earlier than that.

The Star Wars galaxy has endless story potential.

I think I like some of the ideas in the original trilogy better than the execution. The political intrigue of episode I could have been interesting had I been made to care one bit about the Trade Federation. The pod race was cool but ultimately they didn't need to spend so much time on it. Duel of the Fates- well done scene (I could listen to that score at any time), but I didn't have much investment into the characters going into it. The Padme/Anakin romance contrasted with the growing separatist movement- again, good idea, if the characters were written better. Same thing with Obi-Wan's investiagation into the clones.

Eh, I'm going too much into the negative and this thread isn't about that. I actually legitimately Episode III was pretty good, finally seeing Anakin's descent into the Dark Side and seeing how his relationships really broke down. I could really see how the rift between him and the rest of the Jedi order developed, and why he would turn to Palpatine instead. Seeing that was what I was waiting for during the entire prequel series.

Oh, and the death sticks scene from Episode II. Probably the one legitimate laugh I had in the entire trilogy.

With out any shadow of a dobt, the biggest strenght of the Prequels was the Cash Generated, can't argue with numbers.....

Note that figures are for US box office and allow for the effects of inflation.

    1. Episode IV: A New Hope (1977) - $1,486m
    IMDb rating:8.7
    2. Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) - $818m
    IMDb rating:8.8
    3. Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983) - $784m
    IMDb rating:8.4
    4. Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999) - $707m
    IMDb rating:6.5
    5. Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005) - $495m
    IMDb rating:7.7
    6. Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) - $446m
    IMDb rating:6.7
    7. The Clone Wars (2008) - $41m
    IMDb rating:5.8

    Data: IMDb/Box Office Mojo~

They gave much money on the extra revenues than any other SW Movie, start considering Video Games, Merchandising and even The Colne Wars TV Shows and the values go thru the roof.

You know, I thought that when "The Force Awakens" hit the theaters, this needless Prequel Trilogy bashing would finally end. But I see that the franchise's fandom simply cannot stop. For some reason, this particular trilogy seemed threaten them so much that they have to continue with the bashing, despite getting the "STAR WARS" movie that they had wanted for so long.

I'm through. I'm not going to continue to defend the Prequel Trilogy. Instead, I'll play their game and do the same to this new Sequel Trilogy. Even if I end up liking the next film.

So...you are going to bash and attack a movie you might like out of spite against people on the internet who didn't like something you did? Sounds reasonable.

If it weren't for all the action scenes in Revenge of The Sith
, I'd say Phantom Menace is the most entertaining one and most like the original trilogy. There is WAY too much talking and walking in episodes II & III, it's the most painful experience of boring you'll ever experience in a movie.

At least in The Phantom Menace that was all kept in one scene on Coruscant. (As long as it was). Not spread throughout the majority of the movie.

that's a fair point.. but i personally don't believe the prequels were intended to be anything like the original trilogy whatsoever... it seems that some people only want star wars in the form and shape of the original three films.. which, i think, isn't the best mindset to have while watching the prequels or the sequels. i try to keep all three trilogies separate, which might potentially be why i enjoy all 7 films in their own regard. also, most people don't realize that children watching the prequels pay zero attention to the politics, and only the fun things.. because all the star wars films are meant for kids.
