What do you think it was like for George Lucas watching the trailer?

"Now I finally understand!"

 

He was probably proud... of JJ, and KK, and Disney for the reverence they've shown his universe. Equally proud of himself for entrusting the keys to his empire to such talented individuals.

It's bittersweet for him, I'm sure. While he wants to just be a 'consultant', it's hard to watch other people take over your most influential work and remain 'hands off.'

I'd love for the ST to get his seal of approval, but sadly there has been such a backlash against Lucas, it may be unwise for him to go on record anytime soon.

Regardless, in the end, LUCAS IS STAR WARS. And anything good, bad, or ugly that happens in the Star Wars universe wouldn't have been possible without him.

In my dreams, he would actually come back in 10 years to do a standalone film in an experimental style that exists in the Star Wars universe. We owe him as much. Doubt he'd ever take the gig though.

I think he will have mixed feelings about this trilogy. Part of him probably wants the ST to do well, because its his baby and just furthers the franchise to being the most popular movie franchise. But I think part of him doesn't want it to succeed because there will always be the comparisons to the PT, and if someone else did the PT, etc. It's like when a Lead Singer leaves a popular band to pursue a solo career, do you really think the band members want him to succeed without them?

 

I know exactly what he will do... He will bow down to the new kings and agree that they are doing an amazing job. A little jealous? Maybe. In the end, he will approve and respect JJ and KK.

You have to understand that he only wanted the best for Star Wars. It is not his fault that his passion that he had when he started changed on him. He grew up... and now so has Star Wars.

He will ALWAYS be the birth father. It's just that his little girl just got married and moved away from home... Best of luck to JJ and Star Wars. The newlyweds are off to a GREAT start!

Lucas: WHERE THE F WAS MY LOGO?

Lucas: Doesn't feel like a videogame. Sorry JJ but I just don't want to play this.

Lucas: Eh... Eh... Droid is getting there but needs to roll faster... JJ, I'd look into adding googley eyes to it too. Kids love puffy stickers with them kinda peepers. This droid should be a one of those come to life.

Lucas: Can we add another dose of cuteness somewhere? Have the camera zoom into the Falcon to reveal a gungun screaming wildly with his tongue sticking to the camera before we cut. Or put an ewok on the back of the new girl.

Lucas: The practical sets are almost too practical. This is space opera. Not Weekend at Bernie's 3. Even that sand should look shiny and fake.

Lucas: I love the Jesus metaphor of X-Wings walking over water. Amen I say JJ! Wait, aren't you a Jew?

Lucas: You showed me zero Hollywood stars... but JJ where the hell are the star stars?! This isn't an airline commercial we're filming here. Even Virgin's space plane gets higher than what you showed me. This can't feel like spaceships on Earth! We need to be in space. Don't make me fleece you with my flannel!

 

I think GL wants it to succeed. But part of him will resent it if the whole world says, "This was better than the PT."

I think the tiny little bit we saw has given a great many fans (including myself) hope that we might see one last decent Star Wars movie. It's only been thirty years coming.

 

Personally, I hope he's really proud of what he had created. To have new life breathed into his universe must have been a thrill indeed! Some uber-dorks posted that 'this is how it's done George!' and other such hateful stuff.

Had GL not created this universe, none of us would be here. Face it. Sure, the prequels may have not lived up to expectations, but they are what they are. This dude is a fricking GENIUS on a level none of us ever will be. For that, we should be eternally grateful.

I imagine he watched it and thought "that's really cool", and nothing more.

Hahahaaaaa Although an excellent satire, it's also the first time I've enjoyed watching the teaser trailer.

 

I nearly peed myself during the bit after "the dark...and the" SOOO GOOD

 

I think he thought to himself, "Maybe I should have taken off my Lucasfilm CEO hat while I was directing, and spent more money on practical effects and screen writers. I should have also fired all of my yes-men, and hired people who would have told me that some of my ideas were stupid."
