I agree, but as long as we get slow space travel, a change in aesthetics, and lightsabers powered by cords connected to belt batteries*, then I'm good :) In other words, the tech issue would not be an insurmountable problem to deal with.

*Where did I see this? A tales of the Jedi story?

That's actually one thing that I don't want to see, protosabers. I'm not sure why, but that visual makes me think of jedi and sith walking around with proton packs from Ghostbusters. And though when I began replying, it seemed ridiculous I am now totally on board with this idea! :D

Old Republic as well. Seen enough in the games, time for a movie debut.

I think the consensus is that we want something from the Old Republic era. The early times of the Jedi and Sith. I think this is a cool era to explore. Then can dip into some of the legends OR material if they want but also create a unique story as well.

These guys are incredible at showing intrigue and conflict between factions competing for a common goal, power over the realm. They are great at showing single-minded heroes undone by betrayal and morally ambiguous survivors rise to prominence. They are great at making us root for despicable people while worrying about good-hearted companions. They can show us a big action set piece and then blow us away with a quiet moment of contemplation or understanding. And they are doing all of this while carefully and respectfully handling a beloved piece of intellectual property with a deeply devoted fanbase. When the source material ran out, they used the original writer and their best judgement to continue the story. If they have the right source material to work with, they will make something that most of us will probably enjoy.

As most of you have mentioned, the Old Republic Era is ripe with potential. The struggle of democracy and totalitarianism could be an interesting possibility. They could also make the struggle between the light side and dark feel more balanced and ambiguous. No matter what, I'm interested to see their world building and how their design teams interpret our classic Star Wars worlds in a different era and also new worlds and civilizations we may have not yet seen.

With all of the interest in Mandolorians, I'd be very surprised if we don't see them play a role. Maybe they are the wildcards of the series, maybe they're the focus. Maybe the film is a GoT-style series about competing clans vying for the title of Mandolore. We could see the rise or the return of the young Jedi Mandolorian from Sabine's dark saber story in Rebels. We could see the politics and the conflicts of the galaxy outside of the Mandalorian worlds shaping the motivations and the machinations of our factions in how they form alliances and whom they may betray in search of survival and power. We can meet important Jedi, Sith, and other KOTOR characters through cameos or more important roles here and see them expanded upon if cinematic focus grows to build out that world with stand-alones or parallel narrative series. Actually, the medieval Japanese period leading up to the Meiji Restoration could be an interesting historical influence for this story where an insular feudal society dominated by local warlords violently ends due to external pressure by large empires causing a rapid consolidation of power and reorganization of society under imperial rule with a nationalized identity and centralized control based on foreign industrial models.

I love the Old Republic Era, but I'm also interested in the period when the Je'daii split into the Jedi and the Sith. That would be something cool as well.

But I also love your idea of using the Meiji Restoration as influence for the story. Like you say, these guys are excellent at showing intrigue and conflict. I really can't wait to see what they do.

I'd like to see something that has never been written about.... something there's no expectation for seeing. So leave the Old Republic behind. It would only serve to disappoint people who have preconceived ideas about what it should be about.

I would like to see something on the origins of the Sith and Jedi.

Personally I feel that the ST missed a great opportunity with exploring the Sith. GL covered the Jedi with the PT in many ways, with the Sith as the phantom menace. The OT showed the force as something no longer believed in, with the Sith ruling with military might only the inner circle would be aware of their use of the force. The ST should IMO have had Ben exploring the dark side in VII, either by design or accident coming across a stash of the Emperor's. His continued descent in VIII and him taking over a purley military FO that is more akin to Daesh and then carving out a chunk of the Galaxy. Throw in car bomb type Star Destroyers, which if going by TLJ could simply enter hyperspace and split apart a planet........or better still a simple massive explosion for each ship.

Agreed. I don't want the story from those games, just movies in that ERA. Very distinct difference for me.

With TOR being the main thing people want, I will go in a different direction. I would like to see some filler content between around 15-28ABY. It's a gap where we know Han and Leia are raising Ben amidst the political turmoil of a growing New Republic, Luke is off still scouting for Jedi relics, Rey and Finn are just being born and growing up, Poe is a child/teenager, and not much of it would be involved at all. This time period could focus on a new group of people in a world that has loose connective tissue to The Mandalorian content, but also be involved in this time where there are whispers around the galaxy about potential of what could be. You have all of these factions growing in the New Republic, the First Order, neutral factions, and all of the individual criminal syndicates. It would play better in a post-Skywalker saga trilogy ending because you get to see how the power isn't really shifting, but growing from all directions mostly behind closed doors. You could focus on many characters from multiple angles that end up crossing paths at certain points of the show for better or worse. Ultimately we know that it is leading up to Claudia Grey's Bloodline, but how we got there seems intriguing.

For me, the most intriguing thing I've seen so far in the New Canon was the last few minutes of Rebels. It's a snapshot of the Galaxy post Galactic Civil War, post Empire. I'd really like to see the Galaxy taking a breath and recovering from the "rule by fear" tactics of the Empire and witness the state of things when everybody realizes that they're finally free of the Emperor's tyranny...and what they might do with that freedom...

Hundreds of years after Episode 9. I don't like going back in time to any era because you get limited on storytelling in terms of technology, and I don't like anything that is too close to the OT cause you get limited in the storytelling regarding Luke, Leia and Han. Go 500 years after ROTJ, and you can do whatever you want showing the advancement in technology, the advancement in the Jedi, and the advancement of another Death Star! lol

Anything pre-Episode I will make me very happy.

It’s time to crank out the “Doug Chiang-inspired” designs to the same level they went after McQuarrie.

Admittedly - i've never seen GOT. But with it being so popular and news headlines always in my RSS feeds, I get the gist of the setting/atmosphere, content, characters. .... Soooooo ...... Am I the only one thinking B&W doing a KOTOR series is a natural fit?

I don't want to see any more eras, films or tv shows. There are already too many and these have diluted the core story of Star Wars into something less than it once was.

Star Wars needs a nice long break from itself. If Star Wars were an animal, it would be a poor old knackered former racehorse thats on its last legs and being kept alive for breeding purposes to earn money for its owner, who doesn't understand horses or horse racing....

Star Wars has been taking itself far too seriously for too long under its new owners, who don't understand what Star Wars is, or who Star Wars fans really are. The new owners, Disney, have been oversaturing the fans with "products", all with badly thought-out timelines and shallow stories that only really exist to promote their identity politics ideologies for commericial merchandise tie-in reasons.

I don't really care that there were another bunch of "diverse" rebels or bad guys somewhere else, or in another timeline that were doing the same things as the OT characters or "assisting" the OT characters. All this other stuff, other timelines and other characters are just mere background window dressing, they aren't important to the core OT story films which are the core of the Star Wars story.

Even when you retrocon and write this "other stuff" into canon, like Rogue One. We really didn't need to literally be shown how the Death Star plans were stolen, it had already been explained as a few words in the opening crawl of ANH. Rogue One may have been entertaining, but agaim, its just background story that really didn't need to be turned from a few words in a crawl into a whole film that made more money for Disney.

Sadly, Star Wars has been turned into another godawful Disney merchandise "franchise" (grr) like Marvel has. Much like Star Trek and Doctor Who too. Star Wars now exists just to drain your wallet and brainwash you with Disney's weird identy politics.

So once again, please just put Star Wars back to bed for a nice long rest away from itself. Please.

(I've tried to tone down the anger I feel towards
