1st off I have really loved all the new films and The Mandalorian, but a conversation with my oldest son today motivated me to post this.

I truly believe that misplaced anger/disappointment with the PT lead to my biggest disappointment. My biggest disappointment is that the galaxy appears sparsely populated and locals are very earth like.

GL held off on continuing Star Wars after ROTJ until he could let his imagination be easier to fulfill. So we saw planets like Coruscant with massive population and very alien worlds that really dont have a counterpart that could be depicted by filming on location somewhere on earth. This ultimately lead to far more CGI use then practical effects and I believe that many a fan blamed use of CGI over practical effects as why PT fell short in critical acceptance. I have to say that it wasnt CGI that was a huge issue in PT, but rather flawed execution with dialogue, direction and some poor choices with execution like not using sub-titles for aliens. Had look handled the story and had others handle the script I believe would have greatly improved those areas.

I believe that is misplaced and has effected the ST and other projects that LFL has created since the purchase. I also believe that is has cost DisneyLFL in an area some people like to use to say Star Wars is dying and that is basically toys. I have said many times that the reliance on mostly old ship designs and not introducing other new items (like new lightsaber hilts) has lead to decline in sales simply because how many X-Wings would I purchase for my kids (my kids are grown now so I was putting myself in the shoes of my like 15 years ago)? On that point I also dont think Disney/LFL was lets make lots of extra $ by making more toy designs. After all here we are a little over a month b4 Christmas and no sign of a certain new character from The Mandalorian. who would sell a ton of new toys if it was available.

The prequels has a lot of cool planets and alien species and also TPM has the most variety of new ships and vehicles since the OT. But I dont have that feeling that the Galaxy was "shorted" in these aspects with the ST. We have Takodana and Canto Bight with dozens of new species for example. The caretakers, porgs and the Thala-sirens on Ach-to. The crystal foxes on Crait, all of them with great designs and important contribution to the story and atheistic to the saga. And we stil have TROS...

About the toys: I never cared about new toys or how good are the toy sales, or how much money every movie will gross at the box office.
The most important to me will always be the quality of the movie.

To be clear yes the movies are far more important then toy sales. Really the toy sales information really is only cared for by people who want to sale Star Wars is over. I think Takodana and Canto Bight are good examples of my thoughts. Takodana is an earth local and sparsely populated. Canto Bight lots of people have issue with and I feel a great deal of it is because it is the most PT like local of all the location in the ST. Although it was done with lots of practical effects it also is the most populated and let me call clean area in the ST. It just reminds people of PT locations.
