Your local public library might carry a number of those titles or be able to interlibrary loan them for you if they're part of a larger library system. Usually all for free (the card, the books, the ILLs).

Many libraries also carry e-books as well, and those are usually free to borrow (download) as well.

    I agree =)

What headless lady? The only headless people I remember are macabre creations of Dr. Evazan from Rogue One.

Speaking of RO, the only true pet peeve of mine in Star Wars is the Bor Gullet scene. This scene is an epitome of pointlessness. Not only that, the thing is also just plain ugly.

there's a woman with a holographic head that wanders by (and Finn does a double-take). it doesn't help that in the visual guide she's literally described as a headless lady who's preserved her image technologically so she can wander around as if she were still alive or some absurd nonsense. : o p

definitely not a fan of Bor Gullet either. at least the silliness in Canto Bight was basically self-aware of its own silliness. i feel like Bor Gullet was an idea that someone had and then forgot about halfway through implementing it. not only did they not need to read Bodhi's mind in the first place, but what happened to the whole "go mad" thing? he recovered from that pretty quick! XD

I interpreted Bor Gullet as a way to showcase Saw torturing people (to demonstrate his brutal methods, and differentiate him from the Alliance) without having to use real life methods like waterboarding.

Though, I think Dr. Ball MD did a better job with that way back in ANH.

She had no head?! I've always thought she was just projecting herself, like Palpatine did to Nute Gunray in Episode I...

I guess, but in this particular case I believe that the whole scene should have been removed. This would have been much more successful at building Saw as an extremist than actually showing the weapon (or in this case animal) of torture.

Sure, I agree. I think it was pretty poorly implemented.

I wonder if Edwards had wanted to do something more grounded and intense, but had to change the scene to not be totally horrifying to kids.

Star Wars is a enjoyable break from reality, as are all great stories. Being a the huge SCIFI fan that I am the base story is great. Good guys vs bad guys with a lone person being key. With that its everyone inner wish to be able to sway life on a much grander plain. To awake one morning and find destiny has touched you in a way.

For some it represent the man taking control and the common people understanding that giving up control of their basic freedoms is the end. Being told how to think, what to say, towing the line no matter wrong or right to do as I say. When the voice of people is silenced can there be any greater loss of freedoms.

For others it is everything. Cannon is law!! They have taken what started as a simple vision by one man and learned things beyond his understanding. Thank you Mr. Lucas. They know races, lore, legendary warriors and gods. It has become part of their life, a friend. But as with any friend there can be ultimate betrayal or a love that burns with the fire of a star. Some may walk away, some will forgive, some were never hurt at all. The great debate was the TLJ the best or worst of them all. Should Anakin have pushed Jar-Jar out of an air lock.

It also can be a trip, a trip to a simple day walking with mom and dad or friends to see a new movie. Having a good day. Life just being good, smelling popcorn and laughing surround by the things we cared about. Simple times, a childhood that has long since passed but with a push of the play button so easy to revisit. A tradition that can be handed down. A bond from the heart of one person to the next. With each watching the same amazing universe and seeing in their own way.

I see Stars Wars as a passion by some friends and it amazes me!! A movie. WOW. Never once has my friendly jabbing ever even scratched his love for it. He stands strong with light saber in hand battling me with my phaser set to kill. That is mostly because light sabers only have one setting. It is unfair to set my phaser too stun, so he can chop my arms off like a Monty Python skit. I think not sir, now good day. I said good day. Okay now with that out of my system. Back to the point.
If you find something enjoyable than go with it. It should be never be anything where you go out of your way to hurt someone. If you disagree with them, than say what you have to say and move along. Enjoy it, enjoy the great questions could the Enterprise hold up against a Star Destroyer?!!! Could Goku defeat a Jedi? How many Strom troopers have seen Pennywise the dancing Clown. If that question hasn't been asked it should have because he is an alien and has existed since time itself, so there is a chance they have.

What I think about Star Wars is, it is a choice. Love it, hate it depends on you. Dive head first into a universe that can go beyond reality or enjoy/hate a movie.

huh. i guess that's a way to think about it. at least it would make sense to include it in the narrative for that reason, though i think we "get" that these guys are kinda operating outside of the norms and maybe not too nice.

I gave up on these along time ago and have never looked back!
I feel it's much more constructive to express criticism and difference of opinion in a post or PM.
The sentiment and the kids' story sure fits into the way the ST narrative acknowledges hero worship and the cult of celebrity.
    • Rey thinks Luke Skywalker was a myth
    • Hans reputation of a war hero filters down to Stormtrooper Finn
    • Rose gets a bit starstruck with Finn after his exploits in TFA
I put this approach in the same camp as Luke's challenges - logical and almost inevitable directions for a character-driven ST narrative.
As to the placement, I thought it was neo-SW appropriate - same and different:

    Middle End.gif
    Me too.
I'm still trying to digest Rebels introduction of time travel into SW lore.
I had preconceived notions about this ↑ and SW.
I guess this is where all my judgment about fans struggling to reconcile the writers treatment of Luke with their own expectations come back to haunt me!

i don't know why but it just didn't send me out of the theatre in a good way. with TFA i sat there through the credits to very end every time. with TLJ, i could feel myself get itchy the minute the scene cut from Crait and then i was just emotionally out of the film and wanted to leave. i do think the scene absolutely fits thematically, i just think it doesn't belong at the end of this movie except as a end-credit scene or an extra on the dvd/bluray. : o p

I got quite the opposite reaction. This scene filled me with so much joy and hope in humanity like no other ending in any film I've seen. I terms of editing it's clear that that Falcon jumping into hyperspace is the actual ending and the scene after is a bit tacked on but with so much positivity that this scene conveys I believe that's more than worth enough to keep it in the film. It just makes me happy!

i'm glad it works for you. i think that's exactly what it's supposed to make us feel.
my inability to appreciate it is clearly a personal problem ~ i want the credits to roll after the Millenium Falcon because that makes me happy.
the rest of it just feels superfluous to me.
or there may be a little part of me that's just dead inside ~ hahahahahaha

I do share some mixed feelings about the conclusion. I read multiple endings in the film and I personally would have been happy with Rey closing the door on Kylo and the Falcon flying away. (The Rey and Leia banter would be missed though.)

It was almost as though they had allowed options for the editing room but each scene had important beats that were needed thematically so they went with them all.

The upshot is we get all the information including Rey, Leia, and other intimate moments in the Falcon.
The drawbacks include some disjointedness like heros meeting, greeting and smiling despite heavy tragedy and a lost battle (I know they're safe for now) and a focus shift from the main characters to a more macro perspective.

exactly this. this is why, in my original post, i said i feel like it's the one really self-indulgent scene in the movie. : o p

I'm not a big fan of Bor gullet, but to me it shows Saw's paranoia. He's obviously been through a lot. He trusts no one outside of his group. He even thought Jyn was there to kill him. A lot of dictators and people in high profile leadership live a life of paranoia. So Borr gullet was a living lie detector . He cared not for the person being interrogated. Even if they were telling the truth they still had the possibility of losing their minds.

And yeah Broom boy was completely unnecessary. But i get that it is supposed to represent the next generation and hope, but that would be more appropriate for the end of the trillogy.

I saw the Last Jedi on my laptop and after watching it, the movie so disappointing that I never bother to go watch it at the cinema. However since I read the books by Timothy Zahn 15 years ago, my mind keeps thinking of the books sequals.
Now I am advocating for bringing back the original story lines and have been proudly able to make YouTube video.

I think star wars is an anomaly. It's magnetism and influence are near beyond comprehension. It just has that special something about it. It puts my imagination to work in the most enjoyable way possible. It fuses other worldly technology and culture with our own while taking me on the classic hero's journey against evil. It incorporates spirituality and mysticism and helps us on this planet, in this galaxy learn that many different types of beings and cultures can co-exist., i.e. and un-ironically so, A New Hope - Tatooine - The Cantina (yes yes I know, the droids. But you get my point). It takes all of that and turns it into one awesome roller coaster ride. I mean, god how do I even accurately answer question like this? Lol.

DARTH VADER! LIGHTSABERS! ALIENS! CITY SIZE SPACE SHIPS! SMALL PLANET SIZE SPACE STATIONS! JAWAS! LANDSPEEDERS! STORMTROOPERS! TWIN SETTING SUNS! GANGSTER SLUGS! BOBA FETT! THE MILLENIUM FALCON! TIE FIGHTERS!!! A CITY IN THE CLOUDS! LANDO! LUKE! C3-PO! R2-D2! HAN SHOOTS FIRST!!!!! SLAVE ONE!!!! AND THIS..........CARBON FREEZE!!!!!!!!! I can go on and on and on...............................anyone care to take over?
