What if Anakin never turned to the darkside?

There are many possible things that might have happened but I will just say this, I think that the whole galaxy would have been a much better place had Anakin decided to stay. For one, Mace would have killed Palps and Order 66 would not have taken place which would have helped the Jedi out. Now assuming Mas Amedda had the authority to give order 66 and many Jedi were still killed, Amedda didn't have the power and influence that Sheev had to turn everyone against the Jedi. Many more people might have stood with the Jedi and even if not Amedda was not a Sith so the galaxy would still have been a better place as there was nobody to constantly want to take down the Jedi.

 

And both the Jedi and the Senate would have merrily continued along their paths of complacency, rigid thinking and corruption (the Senate).

 

Anakin's big failing is attachment. For him not to have gone off after Mace would have been totally out of character. Anakin puts the lives of others before his own. He is not one for standing around and meditating when a more pro-active approach can be taken. In his mind, to stay in the temple would mean allowing his vision of Padme's death to come true as Palpatine would no longer be able to help him find the power to stop death.

 

The saga would have been shorter.

 

Que nenni! (old french that means: no). The saga would have been longer. Let's recapitulate:

Anakin sees Mace and the others leave the Jedi Temple. He thinks to Padme. He cries. In the 500 Republica, Padme is also crying. Everybody cries. The violins start to play "Aria" by JS Bach.
Anakin jumps in the airspeeder and go to the 500 Republica (his initial will was to go to the Chancellor's Office, but Bandini said no). There he meets Padme and tries to consolate her. I remind you they are adults and married, so decently I cannot write here the way he consolates her. But that works: now, she is laughing again. And so does he. Violins play "Summer" from the Four Seasons by Vivaldi.
In the Chancellor Office, things went wrong. As easily as he got rid of Yoda, Sidious first sent Agen Kolar to the North, then Saese Tiin to the South, then the green Kit Fisto was shipped to the East as Mace Windu left the Office last, throwed somewhere to the Kanye West of Coruscant. We'll anymore hear of them. Guitars play "Seek and Destroy" by Metallica.

Time has passed. Babies are born. Just enough to let Anakin say to Obiwan "One day, I want my little Luke inherit my saber" (connecting with ANH ol'Ben "your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough").
In the Jedi Temple, Yoda is leaving his little chamber, looking preoccupied. He shouts: "Skywalker! Moron! Come here!". Anakin appears. Their dispute is memorable, event on the forecourt of the Temple, one can hear them yell. Despite his short size, the little green thing shouts like a hundred cows :
- Kind of son of a bantha poop, married you get ? And two babies she laid ?
Anakin is confused by such outrageous words, and promptly reacts:
- Hey, old gran'pa, and that Mundi, isn't he married ?
- Mundi the problem is not, replies the little gnome, trembling with rage. Your lie to the Order, the problem is.
- OK, no problem stupid nabot. I'm fed up. I resign. F%%% O%%. I haaaaaate you.
And Anakin turns on his heels, and go back to the Chancellor's Office in order to terminate all of this. But when he reaches the Senate, Palps is calmly filing his nails.
- I was waiting for you, Any. What's up?
- I'm no more Jedi, Uncle Palp. They can go f%%% themselves (*)
- Goooood, goooood, all is proceeding as I foreseen. Henceforth, you should be known as.... Darth...... Vader!



(*) I remind you the movie is rated PG13.

Hayden Christensen. I'll never be able to get over this. George clearly smoked something so strong..it gave him his mental license to cast the first thing he thought LOOKED like what he thought Anakin looked like as an adult. Yes, THING. Midichlorians my ass... Hayden-chlorians killed it all. Butchered it all. Saute'ed it a hot pan of blast. Anakin, played by a real actor, should have never turned... Hayden turning was magnificent.. watching him burn was orgasmic. When he screamed "I hate YOU!!!!" at Obi Wan... all I could think of was... "Yes Hayden, I feel the same way about you and your career".....

 

Can you imagine if Lucas had done this, at the end of Episode 3, Anakin is still a good guy, Windu has killed Palpatine and everyone lives happily ever after........ i think my head would have exploded.

 

We wouldn't have saw that dark memorable suit, he would have eventually turned after the jedi order found about his secret marriage, twins along the way, yep he would have took the darkside route.

 

I would respond to this comment, but considering my very low opinion of it, I've decided not to.

How do you know that Anakin would have STILL turned? Is this based upon your own preference? Are you privy to Lucas' thoughts? Or are you basing this on the Oriignal Trilogy?

I think if George had made Anakin a good guy and killed Palpatine, at this very precise moment the movie is shown on the theaters all around the world,all the people would have roared, the continuum space-time would have been broken, Earth would have stop rotating, perhaps, it would have started rotating the other way, gnomes would have popped up from old cemeterys, night and storm would have invaded our land, and a terrible voice, falling from the sky like a thunder, would have asked:
- WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ?????
My God! I'm really frightened as I write that, I'm certainly beneath the truth.
It would have been the end of our World.

 

I wonder how Luke and Leia would have turned out if Anakin stayed and Mace killed Palpatine? I bet growing up it was a very confident Leia bossing around the shy/soft-spoken Luke.

 

The same end result would have happened. Everyone would have been killed. Mace Windu would have killed palpatine but anakin would have become Dooku 2.0 and gone on a rage killing and potentially even started and escalated the civil war, joined the separatists, and destroyed the republic

 

Imagine that the Baptists arrested President John F. Kennedy for the crime of being a Catholic.

Who would go on trial? Kennedy, or the Baptists who arrested a democratically elected head of government?

All Chancellor Palpatine needed to do was submit to being arrested and insist on a trial. There's no way in hell that the Jedi could have convinced the Galaxy that the Sith have come back from extinction and that the Senate just elected a Sith Lord as it's leader. Palpatine would say it's all just a Jedi mind trick and the Jedi are trying to install themselves as the government.

The Jedi Council pretty much committed suicide the moment Mace ignited his lightsaber and told Palpatine he was under arrest. There simply was no way - no conceivable way - that the Jedi could keep their place as the Galaxy's peacekeepers after that, because nobody other than Baptists cared if Kennedy was Catholic, but everybody would have objected to having their elected leader imprisoned by religious fanatics.

After that Order 66 would have been the Senate's idea, not the Chancellor's.

 

They probably would have been exiled by Mace, Anakin would kill Mace & take off with the kids.

I don't know what would have happened if Anakin had not become a Sith. I believe only George Lucas would have known.
