The description for Catalyst, the upcoming Rogue One novel, seems to indicate the story is set during the Clone Wars. It also establishes Krennic as one of Palpatine's insiders during that era. From Rebels, we also know that clone troopers were a "better class of soldier" than OT era stormtroopers.

So, Krennic's personal guard, the death troopers, are clones? It would make sense that the elite of the elite among Imperial troops are genetically engineered weapons with extensive combat experience who survived the most destructive conflict in the history of the galaxy, and it would be a cool reveal, for the fanboys at least, if one loses a helmet and it's an aged Temura Morrison. Or a young Temura Morrison, which would be a whole new level of intrigue. New clones in the New Hope timeline? Wild.

I dunno. Is Disney brave enough to begin not just acknowledging but incorporating the prequels into this new era?

They're too tall to be Jango's clones.

Agreed, the way they coldly looked around the first trailer, they are sure from that kinda batch.

The clones are from Jango and he is only 5'7 so the clones might be a bit too short to be death troopers ;) .

I don't think so. But remember, even if the Empire prefers to use actual people instead of clones, they're still around at the time of The Force Awakens:

"Perhaps Leader Snoke should consider using an army of clones"

I don't think that necessarily means that clones are STILL around by then but that it's just a throwaway line meant to evoke the prequels .

For those of you, who are interested what the description of the novel is

War is tearing the galaxy apart. For years the Republic and the Separatists have battled across the stars, each building more and more deadly technology in an attempt to win the war. As a member of Chancellor Palpatine's top secret Death Star project, Orson Krennic is determined to develop a superweapon before their enemies can. And an old friend of Krennic's, the brilliant scientist Galen Erso, could be the key.

Galen's energy-focused research has captured the attention of both Krennic and his foes, making the scientist a crucial pawn in the galactic conflict. But after Krennic rescues Galen, his wife, Lyra, and their young daughter, Jyn, from Separatist kidnappers, the Erso family is deeply in Krennic's debt. Krennic then offers Galen an extraordinary opportunity: to continue his scientific studies with every resource put utterly at his disposal. While Galen and Lyra believe that his energy research will be used purely in altruistic ways, Krennic has other plans that will finally make the Death Star a reality. Trapped in their benefactor's tightening grasp, the Ersos must untangle Krennic's web of deception to save themselves and the galaxy itself.

Wellllll... I don't know many people (aside from us) who will say, "Waitaminnit, these guys are taller than that other guy!"
And it would be kind of cool if Krennic uses the same elite troops to rescue the Ersos in the Clone Wars timeline of Catalyst, and still has this crew around at the time of Rogue One.
Just saying it would be a cool continuity thread that starts to knit these timelines together a bit.

What if they are all women? What if Captain Phasma is the last in line of these new gen clone troopers? The DT's appear to be fairly tall and slinder.

A little reminiscent of God Emperor of Dune, where Leto had the all-female army called like Fish Speakers or something.

That just means cloning technology still exists. Clone Troopers aren't the only clones in the galaxy.

Sorrry two bust that bubble, there were two in TFA. Maybe she was outstanding and special and it had nothing to do with being a female.
"she's testing her powers" dialog with Kylo.

Huh? That's referring to Rey. Phasma is the only female trooper onscreen.

It's pretty well documented that there are female stormtroopers in TFA. You hear one on screen, in fact.

Edit - the one you're talking about. lol
