While it is an interesting idea, I don't think the Death Troopers are clones.

To me, i think it's personally a matter of if the kamino facilities ever shut down and/or were replicated on other systems and what their true purposes wre.

    Gotcha.
If Kaminoan clones were decommissioned several years before ANH, then there's no logic in the Empire would starting production on new clone batches. Kamino was the most advanced cloning facility in the galaxy, you just don't discard that equipment, especially when its under your control, and then start up an inferior version.

Mainly it is just my opinion but I do agree with what @Alex Sebire has stated above.

And we shouldn't forget that 4 years bby Brendol Hux was already in charge of the Arkanis Academy, to train handpicked cadets from early years on. His main argument against clones, and it's a good one, was that they are vulnerable against biological weapons.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were clones, it would be pretty awesome. That being said, I highly doubt it.

If phasma was a clone, it would explain how she survived the trash compactor without droid interference .

Exactly. It's not something overly noticeable considering they are all wearing armor, but JJ made sure to have some women as Storm Troopers in TFA. Makes sense considering that Phasma is their captain and based on the women we see fulfilling other roles in The First Order.

I can't see them being Clone's in the sense that they'd be from the Clone Wars (Jango's clones) - they were either wiped out, fled, or died of old age by the Rogue One time period.

They could be separate clones but I really don't see how that would benefit the Rogue One story. I see them as just commando-like soldiers that happen to be under Krennic's command. Furthermore, I don't see why Krennic would be commissioned to create a Clone Trooper Squad that is literally a handful of men - it doesn't make any practical sense.

Actually, there were a few still in service during the Galactic Civil War. In the Battlefront novel we learn that one of the original Clones is in charge of a Storm Trooper unit on Sullust. They are mostly gone at that point, but not entirely.

I think if Krennic's Death Troopers are indeed clones, they would be different than the main clones that served in the Grand Army of the Republic. They just seem too lanky to me.

One of Palpatine’s Imperial Guardsmen in ‘Lords of The Sith’ was a Clone Trooper. So, not unprecedented, but extremely unlikely IMO.
