    As the others have said, I possibly got a bit mixed up on facts there, sorry! I think it was said on the main SW7N site that Hamill was there whilst they were shooting or something and I seem to have made an uneducated leap! My apologies, good sir. They have confirmed that it is Jakku and from what Hamill was saying, they were very adamant about him using present tense regarding his father, so it's likely the dialogue was specifically made for the teaser.

    I agree that they couldn't kill him off off-screen and thus I retract my statement regarding a death before the film. This would be illogical and would do many fans a disservice. However, I think the possibility of him dying at some point during the ST and becoming a force ghost is ever present.

    While I don't think they'd kill Luke off in the first movie (maybe the next two?) I could see a scenario where the whole movie was spent "looking for Luke" and when they (whomever "they" are) get to where they thought Luke was, they just find his ROTJ robe and a frozen R2 in the shadows somewhere, sort of like Tik Tok in Return to Oz. They "unfreeze" R2 and he plays a hologram of what happened but only so the audience cannot see the action, but only the reactions of the characters and that's how TFA ends...

    I'll leave it simple, if Luke is a force ghost; I better see Yoda.
    I highly doubt he will die or become a force ghost in the ST.
