SPECULATION What if Rey Joins The First Order?

While I highly doubt Rey will join The First Order, it would be a unique and interesting twist on the standard Star Wars formula. Having the protagonist and antagonist swap places.

 

i think and hope that she does. It would be very interesting if Kylo redeems himself and becomes the jedi night and rey becomes the sith lord in the new star wars movies. It would be a twist we haven't seen before.
Plus what if it turned out that somebody like Snoke was Reys father, that would conflict with her emotions to choose between dark and light. something like this could be very interesting to watch unfold

 

It would take something like her parents already being in their service to convince Rey to sign up, if they're alive off course. Or Luke could have kept something from her that hurt so much that might work.

 

Having seen first-hand the brutality of the FO during the needless attack on Takodana, bearing witness to Kylo Ren murdering his own father in cold blood and seriously injuring Finn, I very much doubt she'll be joining them. But the switch from Light to Dark for her, and Kylo's simultaneous mirroring of it, would make for an interesting dynamic in the movie, I agree. I just don't see the FO being any part of it.

 

She has shown flashes of anger...now if her parents came from the Empire in some way...if Luke had killed them...there's a chance for sure. If not, where is the tension? She'll just become a great Jedi and save the day. We need to think there's a chance she will fall.

 

Snoke in particular cant be Reys father, he is an alien and she's a human being.

 

I agree with all those that say it would make an interesting change and dynamic for the new trilogy but I just don't see them letting their strong independent female role model fall to the dark side. Hey ho that's Hollywood politics.

When I first saw your question, my first response was, "now why in the hell would she do that?", but in opening the thread, I see you consider TFO and the dark side as the same thing. That made me realize that I don't. As a child of the OT, I always had the feeling that "the empire" was secondary to what Vader and Palps were up to. As if the fleet and the garrisons were just tools they had and there was something much more evil going on. Now, haveing the PT, I see that Palps created the whole thing, however, I get the same vibe from Ren and snoke. More so, actually. As they are useing the resources of TFO specifically to find Luke.

So, I would submit that the dark side and TFO are separate entities. Snoke and Ren could seduce her and train her in the dark arts while keeping the whole thing secret from TFO. Which I wouldn't mind seeing,BTW. And to add to that, IMO, Ren is unredeemable, and with all the rumors of the force tree and the brother and sister, what if snoke and Ren are pawns, Luke is the brother, Rey is the sister, and their battle for all the doughnuts is episode IX?

Then VIII and CI wilL be about her redemption arc and being manipulated by both sides until she just woke alms off into the sunset and not dealing with anyone

 

Hey, I dig thought provoking questions no matter how far fetched or ridiculous or whatever. Your thread made me make a distinction for myself between the dark side and TFO that I didn't know I thought until you posted this!

People seem to be very certain that Rey will be staying on the straight and narrow.
I must ask - where will the tension be in such a story? You don't think she'll struggle with the Dark Side at all? You don't see the risk?
