i voted no, but i'd love it to happen. With Kylo clearly fascinated by Rey, her turning dark would open up a highway of interesting opportunities to get Ben Solo redeemed.

Rey is Disney's golden ticket... so it'll be interesting to see how brave they are with her story line.

 

I highly doubt Rey will join TFO, but will she be tempted by the Dark Side?- maybe, I wouldn't rule that out.

 

Essentially it's the same thing though. If she joins the Dark Side then that comes as a package deal with the FO!

However I do think it'd be interesting to go in that direction in the future.

In the 2nd Gundam series we find out that the government the good guys fight for in the 1st series have since become villains. A story were post ST the Republic becomes totalitarian in its own way (think the regressive left intolerance at a controlling government level) is stamping out freedom, for its own "we're good, trust us" reasons, and Rey ends up siding with the previous villains would be interesting.

 

Didn't they already do that? *Cough* Prequels *cough*.

 

No, the Republic is never seen as the villains and the Jedi don't side with people they thought were their enemies in the past.

If the Jedi had joined Dooku, who was really the good guy fighting against the evil Republic with the Seperatist's who were the ones really trying to protect freedom.....then yes.

 

I'm pretty sure that these themes are in the PT...

To be fair, I once hoped the opening shot of TFA would be a huge Republic cruiser chasing down an Imperial remnant. But how much more juice is there to squeeze out of these themes that were prominent in the prequels?

Considering your track record with the movies, I'd questino your take on the themes.

The Republic is shown as not working, but it is never shown as evil. It never oppress people. Takes their freedoms away. Kills people etc... Even when Palpatine is in full control (but before the Empire) it is not an evil, oppressive, totalitarian government. The Empire and 1st Order are shown as evil. The Republic is not.

Yes, and that can happen very easily.

Look at social justice movements. When you're not in power you're fighting for things like freedom of speech. Once you're in power, you think you know best and those who disagree should be silenced.
