SPECULATION What interests you most about R1?

Mostly this. It's such a rich area to explore.

I mean, they have a TV commercial about a darned razor that made me want a Band of Brothers style HBO series with these background soldiers and pilots!

 

Seeing how the relationship of Jyn and her father develops and the possibility of how it plays a part in the grand scheme of the galaxy at large.

This moment from the trailer had a real effect on me.

 

I'm looking forward to seeing Vader again on the big screen. Hopefully he kills some Rebels in a badass way.

I'm also excited for Galen Erso. He looks like an interesting character. Furthermore I'm a big fan of Mads Mikkelsen.

 

The return to the OT era and seeing the ships and story I feel in love with!!!

 

I'm looking forward to the story, scaling cinematography and acting performances

 

I probably like just going back to that era in general .

 

in addition to all the great stuff already pointed out, I'm just excited about a self contained story which we won't have to wait two years for a resolution to. don't get me wrong, i love the saga films but this is a nice change of pace.

 

Vader and exploring other parts of the universe.

 

I'm pretty exited by everything I've seen regarding Rogue One but top of my list is the widening of scope for Star Wars by taking the story beyond the Anakin story and by exploring more of the interstellar culture of the setting (read: an expansion of the Force concept by turning it into an actual religon as was hinted to in ANH). I mean, this movie is going to be blasted awesome!

 

I'm almost only interested in Chirrut, Jedha and the force related things in this movie. Much less about the war and blaster stuff. Vader is a nice add-on, but I don't expect more than a cameo from him.

 

I'm looking forward to seeing Vader and hearing James Earl Jones likely voicing him for the last time on the big screen.

 

I'm excited about seeing the inner workings of the Rebel Alliance. I was happy to see some politicians/senators in the final trailer, because the political build-up to the Rebellion was wasted in the prequels. The three deleted scenes from Episode III were so poorly scripted, I'm happy they were deleted. (Maybe not the first one in Bail's office, that was... decent.)

Jedha also intrigues me, even though it's a bit weird to suddenly have new planets so integral to the history of the Jedi (also Ahch-To), when they could have simply reused concepts from the Expanded Universe.

I also hope we finally get to hear the term "kyber crystal" stated in a Star Wars film.

 

My turn, the plan of how they going to steal the death star plans.

 

Jynn: "Chirrut, you will seduce the guard. I will pass by and go to the men's room and sneak through a ventilation shaft. Baze will show of his big gun to Piett and convince him to go rogue Last, you captain Andor will crawl through the exhaust vent and right into Krennic's office to steal the plans from the right pocket of his parade uniform, if it hasn't been sent to the dry-cleaner of course. So come on guys don't look so sad, Rebellions are built on hope!"

 

Good plan, you sure made 10 men's hope feel like 100.

 

I'm very much looking forward to a well-told "gritty SW story" –that still carries a good measure of the well-established magic of that universe, ...but which also opens some new perspectives within it.

From my view, there'll be a few eye-rolling parts, I'm sure— but they will be parts that others will enjoy.

Overall, I sincerely think we're in for a hell of a treat.

I know I'm going relish it.

I'm interested in this apparently "realistic" Star Wars warfare stuff as well. And James Earl Jones / Vader. I've always loved Vader, but I have to say, this movie and Rebels have made my obsession sky rocket.

i'm getting into Rebels. the end of the last season was truly epic. i'm also super excited about James Earl Jones, but just for nostalgia's sake. i'm glad for a Vader appearance, but in my head he's already been redeemed, so i hope he just makes a nice fan appearance and leaves the heavy lifting to the new cast.
