SPECULATION What is Rey last name ?

Not exactly a Mary Sue because she digs emo Mansion and gets her butt kicked by Snoke (she also messed up a couple times in TFA, which people often ignore), but officially a failed protagonist because she's dull, overpowered, and will succeed whenever convenient for the hack writers. Nothing interesting here.

I'm not suggesting any relation to wedge, raymus, or bail, but it seems like antilles is the "Smith " or "patel" of the star wars universe, so statistically that's the best guess

 

I wonder if Rey is even her first name? remember the pilot helmet she wears says Raeh in aribesh (sp) in the TFA. but for me the surname isn't to important any more. i mean Finn doesn't have a surname

 

I personally believe that her parents weren't drunkards that died on Jakku as Kylo points out. I feel that this is his dark side manipulation to get the result he wants, he tells her what she would need to hear to let the past die. Even Rian said he didn't want to hand us this information on a platter. We now have to wait until episode IX. I don't think she is a nobody, just likely not someone from the Skywalker line. Sticking with Kathleen Kennedy's comments on the Skywalker Saga being about family and love, I'm more back on the Darth Plagueis theory as family and love is the the farthest thing from in the new trilogy. I originally thought it was great that everything was so open, but that is what really started eating at me. None of this makes sense. Even Serkis explains that we "learn so little about Snoke in episode VIII", this tells me there is more than we are being told. My guess is Darth "Vegas" Plagueis found a way to resurrect himself a second time. Rey and Kylo would likely need to team up to defeat him once and for all, likely with knowledge from the books. Eventually leading to a the possibility of a relationship between the two where we see the "Skywalker" Saga full circle with family and love winning. When the twists and truths come out in episode IX, I believe we are going to look at TFA and TLJ differently and it will be brilliant.

 

I believe you're going to be sadly disappointed. Everyone had these fan theories coming into 8 and look what happened. There's no over-arching plan why they tell us so little of Snoke, RJ literally just wanted to kill him off so Ben could be at the helm of TFO, because that's "the most interesting thing that can happen."

It would be sooooo ridiculous if they set up Rey to be someone in TFA, tell us she's nobody in TLJ, and then come back in 9 with "oh, just kidding, she's actualy someone like everyone wanted!"

 

Finn doesn't even have a real first name. "Finn" is just a nickname from the contraction of his FN2187 designation. He is disappoint.

I would also like to recommend 'The Legend of Luke Skywalker' book.

It was considered to be somewhat controversial, so I had to check it out.

Extremely glad I read it before seeing TLJ.

Knowing the background story for Luke's crazy-ass spear fishing antics on Ahch-To was brilliant.

When I saw him use it on screen for the first time in TLJ I was beyond thrilled.

Just my point we are having characters that don’t even follow a normal naming convention so I really don’t think we’ll get the answer because like Finn she won’t really have one

But it’s always fun to speculate or make hilarious suggestions some of them are great!

 

It’s discussions like this that led to the revelation of Palpatine’s first name “Sheev”.

Sometimes it’s best to just let things be.

Armitage Hux... still laughing about that one, they named him after a British lavatory manufacturer.

 

I personally don't see Kylo having leadership qualities. If he was to be at the helm of the First Order I feel their fates will come quickly. This would be the most flawed leadership we've ever seen in Star Wars. The resistance may be few, but it takes good leadership to be successful. I just don't see episode IX plot being Kylo causing the First Order to spiral out of control. That's just not a story people would want to see. Essentially the bad guys defeating themselves.
