This is too good I had to share. I'm watching TFA and trying to absorb it. But check this out, this is just brilliant. This movie. So good. So when TFA was coming around we got pictures of Jakku, remember that? People were like, "It's just like Tatooine, why not just use Tatooine" but there is a difference between the two, right? A BIG difference.

Jakku is missing a sun, right? There are TWO suns on Tatooine. On Jakku there is a missing sun. A missing SON. You know? A sun/son is missing. Isn't that just so rich in symbolism? Because the whole theme of the movie and trilogy is about, a missing son.

Now, maybe spoiler territory here but, remember what I was saying about Rey's identity? So Rey's home is missing a sun. And her home home, missing a son. Isn't that great? That is such a great idea there. I wonder if that was JJ's idea?

A side note following that thing about Rey- check this out, I noticed that Rey and Finn leave Jakku, and in the Falcon, even though there's sirens going off, the lights are all white; until, that is, Finn asks Rey if she has a boyfriend. Then the Falcon immediately goes into red alert, and Han shuts down "Big Time" and intervenes to board the ship. I can almost see Han somehow listening in on the conversation going on aboard the Falcon, and he and Chewie are just sitting there and Finns voice crackles over "Got a boyfriend?" and Chewie hits the "capture" button as Han grabs his blaster.

Anyway, just wanted to share the Jakku thing. Maybe you're reading this and already realized it but it just hit me and blew my mind. A missing son.

I would've said the difference between Tatooine and Jakku is that Jakku looks even shittier.

This may be spoilery so just, be advised. I really am not wanting anyone to read these unless they are good with possibley having the story spoiled.

Meaning, Ben Solo is the missing sun/son of the movie. The suns in the movie seem very analogue to Ben. For instance, not only the "missing sun" of Rey's home; but then, as when the Starkiller recharge sequence which has the sun being drained of light and turned to black, as Kylo is confronting his "disappointing" father. The sun in that scene is analogue of Ben and the light in him going away as he turns black.

BUT, the Starkiller base bursts into light at the end of the sequence, and the sun/son is reborn. No doubt a foreshadow of what the death of Han was going to accomplish: the destruction of the Starkiller. Starkiller - kills the sun/son. It's an analogue of Snoke, as Snoke is the "sun/son killer"

When I say "Rey's home" it has a double meaning:

Rey's physical home is Jakku which is missing a sun (in conext of e1 and e4 which both begin with the chosen one on Tatooine). But, also, Rey's home home. Her family is missing a son. (I propose is Han's daughter and Ben's little sister (who he and Snoke- and pretty much everyone in the galaxy think died like a decade ago) So the missing sun in the sky of Rey's physical home of Jakku, is an analogue of the missing son in the proverbial sky of Rey's family, home.

Also from this analogue, I'm extending it in expectation that the sequel trilogy will end with a scene on Tatooine, as the location of the new Jedi temple, mastered by Ben and Rey; so in the end, we will be back at the beginning, and the sun is no longer missing.

    That's the theory.

If I remember correctly, Jakku was a factory planet for the Empire. After Endor, the Empire started to lose ground quickly, as the Rebels/New Republic made a lot of progress and even captured a lot of Imperial ships and tools. The New Republic decided to target Jakku, and the Empire decided that Jakku was either going to be a make or break moment for them, so they threw pretty much everything they still had into the battle. Endor may have been the turn of the tide in the conflict between the Empire and the Rebels, but Jakku was the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny for the war.

Tatooine was just an unimportant desert planet in the Outer Rim that happened to be a part of the Hutts' criminal empire because Jabba had his base of operations there.
