    Take your guess.

For me, it's Disney messing up with the Jedi code.

This is actually an interesting question.

Not sure what the WORST thing could be, though one problem I had with TFA is that the universe felt small or just not fleshed out, and I think the plotting suffered as a result. It would be great to see some patience and care applied to world-building, so the sequence of events are nestled within a stronger context, with more emotional resonance and less disjointedness. I think this is likely, since they've had more time to develop this story, but if they make the same mistake this would probably be the "worst" thing to me. It really hurts repeat viewings.

I'm not too worried about a Jedi code, or "Disney" messing with anything. Any creative decisions are made by Lucasfilm, and personally I'd like to see them develop and evolve the tropes and logic of the previous films in interesting ways -- e.g. What does it mean to be a "jedi" now? Sure there are old temples and holocrons with ancient knowledge, but the Force is a living force embodied and interpreted by individuals in the present. Luke may have a different take on what it means to be a Jedi, based on his understanding of history and his personal idiosyncracies. Think of how Christianity, to use one example, has evolved and splintered over the centuries. Luke could be a kind of Martin Luther to the Jedi Council's catholocism.

So I guess another "worst' thing that could happen is that the movie just repeats previous story ideas or displays an overdetermined allegiance to the past, rather than explore how things are ruined and reborn and change over time.

For me, it would be making Finn the son of Lando

That being said, it is often the way that things are done rather what is done

This is going to sound sarcastic. :) It's not. The worst thing that could happen for me would be if (on the Luke / Rey side) Rey goes into a cave and cuts the head off someone wearing the Kylo Ren suit - someone who, in reality, is what she would become if she weren't careful. On the First Order / Resistance side, I really don't wanna see walkers take out the Resistance base, or Kylo Ren revealing to Rey, "No...*I* am your cousin!" ;) Basically, Lucasfilm, please make this film as original as you can. I didn't mind the parallels for TFA that much, but I'd be disheartened if they went the same route for Ep. 8.

This would be very bad, but it would a huge surprise given what we know about the story group.

I'll go with Rey being a Solo. That would be a very lame development. It would make Bloodline a really odd book and keep me from reading other Star Wars material.

Rey getting captured at the end, as one rumor was.

Kylo Ren not getting is ass kicked by Luke. Thoroughly.

Rey Solo/Reyncarnation/Rey Palpatine/any other ridiculous theory. Either Skywalker or random, the story needn't suffer because some people think that "ZOMG WHAT A TWIST!" is good storytelling.

    Finn not meeting Rey again.

Poe having the same small role as in TFA.

    Not showing us the war.

On the same vein, Luke following the Jedi code to a T would be so, so bad. The guy disobeyed Obi-wan and Yoda constantly. Sure, don't screw around with the old Jedi code. Just have him reject it.

Disagree, Lucas planned on making whoever his Rey was the daughter of Luke Skywalker. Now remember, according ot the Jedi Code, attachment is forbidden. So, I guess a Jedi could possibly impregnate a woman to serve a purpose. Perhaps Luke had Rey as some sort of a backup plan?

    1. Luke deliberately giving up on or trying to kill Ben (he can kill Kylo Ren all he wants).
    2. Kylo Ren becoming an irredeemable mustache-twirling villain.
    3. Rey's origin being a convoluted mess.
i'm not sure how any of these things could be done well enough to overcome the damage they would do the Star Wars legacy.

It's a thread where people are discussing their worries. You commented, therefore you involved yourself :) :p.

My worries are regarding the Republic and their fleets. I'm worried that we won't get a proper space battle, when it would be logical for some Republic remnants and the Resistance to team-up and attempt to temporarily halt the advance of the First Order.

I'm open-minded for a lot of things in EPVIII, but the three things I really don't want to see are the following:

    1. Snoke is Sidious
    2. Rey is a Solo or the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker
    3. No world building (the world in TFA felt small, show us some politics etc.)

    a) Turning the Force into "gobbledygook". Making an actual "source" of the Dark Side, as in a physical pool of dark or have Snoke being some kind of Devil figure will be disastrous. I also think people acquiring Force power from objects or whatever is silly too.
    b) Having Rey be Han & Leia's daughter - this will make many scenes in TFA utterly ridiculous.
    c) Having Snoke be someone just pop up out of the blue rather than have a satisfactory connection to the entire saga so far.

    1. Rey not being a Skywalker  lol
    2. A New Age rendition of the Force. Lets keep it a mystery.
    3. CLONES!
    4. Prequelism and EU-ism, which includes every attempt to emplot the prequels and off-screen EU into the sequels. I want them to pretend as if the prequels never happened. So no prequel rendition of Jedi and their stupid and nonsense 'code'. No Sith. No Chosen One. McGregor and Hayden may appear as ghosts, but I'd rather have them not.
