What loose ends need to be closed in Ep9?

Guys guys guys guys guys, the only REAL loose end to tie up is: exactly WHICH character travels back in time to become Anakin's dad?

 

Kylo Ren gets Rey pregnant und Rey travels back in time to become Shmi.

Oh man I hope JJ sees this because whatever he was planning should definitely be scrapped to make this happen.

I perfectly understand and enjoy your satire here. Really.
But... seriously...

First line of TFA:
"This will star to make things right" [Lor San Tekka]

Or..
"When you live long enough, you see the same eyes in different people" [Maz Kanata, TFA]

And I always believed that Maz's words to Rey, meant that Rey's parents were dead.
But if so, the next line, that about the belonging that she seeks, to find ahead
in a Skywalker Saga... in a Saga that used to be about the Chosen One... etc.. it may be used "creatively"


That is to say that - as some of you probably know - I've always suspected not that TimeTravel has al always
been JJ's plan... but that making TFA he set up things in order to not exclude this chance... too.

Even tho I don't think we will ever see something too much "sci-fi". Like TT machine or artifact.
But I guess we cannot exclude a "SW" version of it.
Something "mystical", maybe tied with the true nature of the Force (or of the Cosmic Force) that may trascend space and time...
Something tied with the force ghosts perhaps and that may tied up all the nine movies.
Something like that...

Not that I'm saying that ep. IX will do that... but to me in TFA there's enough stuff carefully placed here and there that may be
used - if one decides so - to build up this kind of plot.
And nothing in TLJ that may go against it...

 

I'm arriving late to this party. Here are my additions:

1) Broom Boy. He may be a teenager by Ep IX and most likely Rey's apprentice.

2) Kylo's new apprentice. Always two, there are. Kylo will need a side-kick to keep the balance. Who will be? One of the Knights of Ren?

3) Will DJ choose a side or will he stay in the middle?

4) Droid ownership. Will C3-PO and R2-D2 still belong to Leia? What if Leia's footage in IX is only holographic recordings of events that are meant to take place between VIII and IX, meaning she really died before the episode? or during the episode. Whom will these droids answer to? There's a separate thread that explores this, and the most popular speculation is that we could see them as emancipated droids.

5) Love, hate, couples. So, Poe had a bromance with Finn. Finn had a crush on Rey. Rey developed a Force-connection with Kylo. Kylo hated Finn for being a traitor. Rose kisses Finn. Finn hugs Rey. Rey meets Poe and both shared a playful smile. So, in IX, who will kiss who? who will dump who? and who will ended up with who? After all, Star Wars is a space opera.

 

1. Broom boy was a symbol of the hope that was still in the galaxy after Luke’s final heroic act. He will likely not been seen of again, especially in IX

2. Kylo is not a Sith so the rule of two is out the window. Doesn’t mean he may not have an apprentice but the easiest way to bring a new villain in would be to bring in the Knights of Ren.

3. DJ was a plot device for Finn’s and Rose’s storyline. I highly doubt he shows back up in IX.

4. Threepio and R2 while maybe technically “owned” have already been treated as independent individuals. I don’t see there being any significant changes even if Leia ends up dead. They will still provide assistance to the Resistance in some form.

5. I think if any couple emerges it will be Finn and Rose. It was set up in TLJ.
