I'm glad to see that Maz will be returning in VIII. I'm looking forward to seeing a little bit more from her.

I'm not sure what happened to her after the First Order raided her castle on Takodana. I think they initially had her go to the Resistence base on D'Qar with Han, Chewie, and Finn, but that was eventually cut. I wonder what her role will be going forward? Perhaps she'll continue serve as a mentor to Finn (and maybe a girlfriend to Chewie).

im not sure i want a lose mirror, i think it would be nice to see it go in to something more original, as a stand out, that said the danger is empire was one of the best sequels of all time so to not emulate what it achieved, to some degree, would be crazy. damed if you do, damed if you don't

She's probably moved to another planet or has her new space cantina Oma constantly moving ship to avoid the FO because she was just kinda...THERE during the attack.

One thing that's different (I believe it was confirmed by Daisy Ridley) is that episode viii will start directly after episode vii. This has never been done before in Star Wars because there is a time gap after every episode. I strongly believe that after the opening crawl it will pan down to the ship Kylo escaped on and him heading to Snokes location. If not that, then panning down to the planet of Ach-To to the scene where we left off with Rey and Luke.

Another thing I think he will do is have actual flashbacks and not just visions of the past. This may help visually fill in some answers to questions such as Rey's parents, the Jedi academy attack, or what I would be expecting more is Snokes story. It has been said Snoke was a good looking guy so that may be visualized with him being handsome then turning to the dark side or whatever happened to him that physically damaged him. It would be better to actually have the flashback and see it happening rather than Snoke saying something like "Ya I used to be hot but I got into a battle with Luke and he totally messed up my face so I'm ugly now :("

One other thing I think he will do is show the actual temple and what he has found and talking more about the first Jedi. You really never see what the old temples actually have in them so it would be cool to see one. Luke can show Rey what he has discovered and that is has changed a lot since the Jedi of episode I, which is sort of the training Luke got.

The final thing I think that's going to be different is not only seeing a training scene where luke and Rey physically fight with light sabers, but about 3/4 into the movie I feel like Luke will have Rey construct a light saber herself. Weve seen light saber construction in the animated series but never in the episodes before, which would be cool to see. If this does happen I think it would be awesome if Rey fuse a light saber into her staff. I think it would be more practical that way because for her whole life she fought with her staff so she's more used to and comfortable with it. I say 3/4 in the movie because I feel like towards the end there will be another battle between Rey and Kylo with Rey's new and her own light saber and Kylos (possibly new) light saber.

Those are just some thoughts that might be new. Who knows.

    1) I hope we skip any Jedi training; let it happen off-screen. "Remember your training, Rey" is all I need because less training is more space battl
    2) I hope that Phasma takes her helmet off and it's revealed she's a Gungan

I don't think it will pan down all the way to Ach-To. Every Episode has started with an establishing shot in space that visually establishes the situation of the galaxy at the time. I would be surprised if VIII breaks that tradition.

The film may pick up right after TFA, but there could be a jump-forward in the movie. Training montage, anyone?:D(duel)

Midichlorians are already canon so they'\'re already there but I have a feeling they won't be mentioned because of JJ Abrams & Disney .

    My thought exactly.

Nonetheles if done right (the Prequels failed) midiclorians do not destroy the mythology of the Force itself but rather add a more mystical aspect.

They were actually described as "mythical" in TPM .

several people have posited that Johnson would use time travel, and while some were more serious than others, i also doubt that actual time travel will be used in the saga...

however, one trope johnson seems to like to use in all his films so far is the criminal underground and the various workings of those sorts of operations and the people who operate them; their motives, their nature, fully formed characters who may be morally bankrupt but have an ethic by which they operate. I HOPE that Johnson is able to bring this in to star wars...for every awesome space battle and fantastic jedi lore moment in the saga, there's a seedy cantina or collective of bounty hunters, a palace of crime lords and so on...i'd love to see that explored in the sequel trilogy era.
