Ewoks and Endor. I really liked the original sanctuary moon and emperor's palace idea much more. I also don't like the second deathstar.

Restore the soundtrack to the original. (Obi-Wan kraayt dragon call, Vader 'No!!!' etc.)

The pacing of Episode IV, it's very slow at the beginning

Episode IV needs to be slow at the beginning. This film, when it was brand new, had new characters nobody had ever seen before, because "Star Wars" (as it was originally called) was brand new. The time spent on explaining the characters made you understand them, their point of view, the wider galaxy and you bonded with them. Luke Skywalker was the focus of the early part of the film which established him as the central character. Then as the film progresses, the pace does pick up and the characters are put into scenes of peril and danger and through to a dramatic, tense exciting conclusion. 40 years later, those original fans are still fans of Star Wars and their subsequent sequels and prequels. Some good, some bad.

Younger fans who were brought up only on the fast paced PT (prequel trilogy), which pay no attention to defining a central character or their stories, are spoiled with continuous action from the start of the PT films, because these films were also designed for the older fans who already knew the characters and their ancestors from past experience and EU research. I can understand that PT era fans find the OT "boring", but they will never experience or understand the OT and PT together in the same way that the older fans do.

    ;)

I would make the Gamorreans look better. I think as a kid I thought they were cool, but man, that is some cheesy stuff.

I'm astounded that you wrote this. I find your description of the Prequel Trilogy to be completely false. Completely.

After watching ANH for the first time in years last weekend, I was struck by how much the bits with R2 and 3PO on Tatooine dragged for me. And Luke's initial whining annoyed me more than I remembered. Yes, the pace does pick up, but I was struck by how odd and slow the beginning was. But then, I can remember tuning out a little during the Tatooine parts as a kid, too.

The desert seems slow, because several interesting scenes were cut out because of story changes and time constraints,

The first scene is a short scene where Luke is out fixing a moisture vaporator with his Treadwell series droid. Luke looks up into the sky and notices bright flashes. Through his electrobinoculars, he witnesses Vader's star destroyer pursuing and firing on the Tantive IV.

A little later, another scene shows Luke rushing into Tosche station to tell his freinds about the battle he has just scene. He is also reunited with best friend Biggs Darklighter. Luke and his friends then go outside to look up to see if what Luke said is true. They don't believe him and retreat back inside.

A third scene shows Luke and Biggs having a private conversation outside Tosche Station. Biggs tells Luke he may not see Luke again as he plans to join the Rebel Alliance. They then go their seperate ways.

The three scenes are condensed below (begins at 1:24), including Luke and Biggs reunion on Yavin IV.

I would have liked if Lucas had allowed Leia to express grief over Alderaan's destruction . . . even if this had happened in the privacy of her cell.

I would have liked if audiences got to see how Leia and Han became deeply attracted to each other in the first place.

I would have liked to see Lando get angry at Han for inadvertently leading the Empire to Bespin.

I would get rid of the incest bits between Luke and Leia, definitely the worst/creepiest aspect of the OT. I'm honestly surprised that more people haven't mentioned that aspect. Every time that I watch ESB, that kiss scene gives me the willies. Then we get to the point in RotJ where Luke reveals to Leia that they are siblings and she replies that somehow she has always known. An innocent enough line on its own, but it becomes much creepier when you think back on the previous movies.

That is hands down the PT's biggest advantage over the OT, no incest.

Hmm, this is tough. OT is wonderful, and the PT could have been just as good/perhaps better if George had someone like Filoni revise, say "no", and direct in place of him. Lucas was a worldbuilder, and he had others direct for him in the OT. So, fixes were made to those stories, only leaving minor stuff out. I think I can't select one, so have all the incest be removed in the OT between Leia and Luke, Wookie uprising helped by Rebels over Ewoks. Death Star II I can more than live with after Rogue One's revelations.

I'd redo the ending of ROTJ. I otherwise like it, but rather than have an ewok dance party, I'd like something a little more somber, where the direction the Alliance needs to take is a little more the focus. Something that focuses on the incredible victory they just had, but also points out the long road ahead.

Luke and Leia were never supposed to be siblings when ESB was filming. Originally, Lucas wanted Yoda and Obi-wan to confess to Luke that he did indeed have a twin sister, who had been placed on the opposite side of the galaxy from him. The sequel trilogy, as he had originally conceived them, would be about Luke looking for his sister, who was not Leia. However, Lucas was physically exhausted from the process of making the films, and emotionally demoralized by his messy divorce, so he decided to abandon the sequel trilogy, and wrap up the mystery of the other Skywalker in RotJ, and made her Leia to avoid the mess of introducing a new character in the final entry of the story who was critically important to the plot.
